I've joined the impact because I want my LGBT brothers and sisters to know that its on us to make the real change we need. I've been a part of World Can't Wait www.worldcantwait.org for over two years because I saw what the theocratic agenda of the Bush Regime was doing to the people of this country and the world. The last straw for me was when Samuel Alito was confirmed to the supreme court. As a woman and a lesbian this was absolutely horrifying.There are so many people out there who have been crushed by the last 8 years of the Bush Regime's theocratic agenda and it doesn't seem like the crushing and stomping from the religious right is going to stop even with Obama as President. We are still around and not going away because the world still can't wait. I know a lot of my lgbt brothers and sisters have put your hopes in Obama to bring about change for LGBT people, but at the end of the day its us who just needs to make it happen. And the kind of change that the people need can only come from an mass independent movement of the people that operates outside official politics. So I guessed I've joined to contribute my thoughts and experience on that and to do what I can to bring LGBT full civil rights but also to ensure that the rights of the people of the world are respected and recognised.
