sometimes queer cyber activism may take a guerrilla style, taking advantage of loopholes in terms of agreement; facebook allows 60 invites a day, so i patiently invited almost 1,000 people to the jti rally. one good thing about this kind of mass mailing is, as in edo4cubs' experience, it can reach and ignite hidden population in disparities that is overlooked otherwise by 'proper, diplomatic' approaches, such as hrc mailing list.

jti's uniqueness has been actually mobilizing and getting out people who never participated in the policy process because of these loose internet social networking sites. edo4cubs' act not only commend support here, but i think he was brave to get 50 positive id's regardless of his cyberspace etiquette. we may be ignorant and without manners, but a paradox is often times social changes and advancement can come from those courageous radical acts when time is on our side (poetic justice?).

to be fair to manhunt folks, since i live in cambridge ma where manhunt corporate hq is, locally they are known as a reputable employer with mostly progressive queer employees despite of those mccain loving owners. they encourage communications among random strangers for 'public place hookups', which sounds like an appropriate route for jti events to me (just like meet u @pride block-party) from my public health official viewpoint.

"Heh thanks, but in my case (Savannah GA) all I did was show up and walk around a bit looking for others. I didn't have a sign or do any shouting. And the closest I had to appropriate attire was an Apple shirt that had a rainbow apple on it. I didn't find out about it until an hour before the scheduled start. Hopefully there will be another one with better turnout."
