| Arizona Republic (Surprisingly minimal coverage- calls HERO "Annie Loyd's group", which seems like a misnomer for a grassroots organization that is a community coalition of MANY people working together. Co-Chairs are: Meg Sneed and Luis Garcia.) | http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/2008/11/16/20081116protests1116.html |
| ABC 15 (GROSSLY under-reported the turnout: police estimated 4000 people, ABC 15 inexplicably called it "hundreds". Terrible job of reporting on this major news event! The reporter emphasized "voter approved" amendments and the religious community's support of Prop 8, particularly the Mormon church.) | http://www.abc15.com/content/news/phoenixmetro/story.aspx?content_id=e4cc10fd-162a-492d-8f72-37272dbecade |

Please give feedback about the media coverage that you see or read about the rally on Saturday. I noticed that the new reporters seemed to be targeting the most "colorful" and visually dramatic members of our community to feature on camera. Several seemed reluctant but were convinced to speak on camera, anyway. I personally told each reporter "I want you to know that ANY of the many families or community organizers here would be more than happy to speak with you on camera" and none took me up on that offer. However, when I literally brought over a family of straight allies, the new reporter from channel 12 did not decline to interview them on camera or when I brought over another of our most active community organizers. However, the reporter from channel 5 said, "Oh yes, I've already spoken with many of them" but she looked as if caught in a lie when I then said "Then, I truly thank you for your fair and accurate reporting about our community today". So, I'm VERY curious to see what actually shows up in the media... and I'm looking forward to seeing what is posted on this page! I'm going to post the photos that I took, as well.
