Southern Voice picked up the story!

Our community contributes $700 billion a year to this economy (the same amount as the bailout), yet we are not given equal protections under the law that every citizen deserves. As such, it is time we make a stand. During the largest shopping season of the year, we ask that you do one very important thing: Don't Buy Anything! What would happen to this world if the LGBTQ community didn't exist? Why is it that we continue to contribute to an economy and government that does not contribute to us? Let's answer these questions on December 13th.

On the public sidewalks near Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza (two of Atlanta's busiest shopping centers) in the middle of the Holiday shopping season, we will take to the streets and again prove that we are not a silent sector of the community in Atlanta and are instead a vocal and growing group and we are tired of being second-class citizens.

While a full scale single-day boycott will not be productive, we are encouraging several actions by those who attend. Instead of spending money at these locations, we will be raising money for local charities and donating to their causes. We will also be organizing a food drive during this event.

Again, as in our last (and future protests), this is a peaceful event. We are out here to show that we are members of the community in Atlanta, we are not here to be violent or disruptive -- although we do expect a (legal) traffic disruption will occur if we have a large enough group.

Lenox & Phipps
: Lenox Mall & Phipps Plaza

This is THE premier shopping district in Atlanta. Using the public sidewalks, crosswalks, and a massive number of people would get the point across best. Lots of signage, and lots of visibility. (A huge number of protest participants might even tie up traffic a bit.)

MARTA is a must to avoid parking (and possibly traffic!) problems. The Buckhead MARTA station (North/Red line) lets out a few blocks down Peachtree Street, and the Lenox MARTA station (Northeast/Orange Line) a few blocks down Lenox Road behind Lenox Mall.

Open to thoughts and ideas, so let's see what we can do to show shoppers and this "shopping destination" how much GLBT money they're missing.

We are EVERYWHERE, but on December 13th, we're not buying it anymore! The economy is stale, and our rights are not for sale. Hit 'em where it hurts - the wallet.

Please check out and add to your friends on FaceBook. Spread the word!

Check out www.duh.org/NOH8 for signage, and more will be added soon.

Don't forget your bells, whistles, jingle bells, etc. Pink and black Santa hats are fetching this time of year. Sparkly pink garland is always a nice accessory!

Sadly, we have to stay on the public sidewalks, and that means you can't ride the Pink Pig.
