UPDATE for NEW ballot initiative for 2010. Start getting petition signatures NOW!!! The group heading this November 2010 California ballot initiative is LoveHonorCherish based in Studio City, CA. (lovehonorcherish.org) Reinstates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry. Initiative Constitutional Amendment. Proponents: John Henning, Jordan Krueger, Raphael Farrow, Andrew Klayman Jo Hoenninger, Peter Nguyen, Thomas Watson, Edwin Rivera, Angie-Marie Hancock, and Fredy Ceja. California Attorney General Jerry Brown provides the following description: Repeals the current provision in California’s Constitution that states only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California. Provides that marriage is between only two persons and shall not be restricted on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. Clarifies that the initiative shall not be interpreted to require any priest, minister, pastor, rabbi, or other person to perform a marriage in violation of his or her religious beliefs. Summary of estimate by Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance of fiscal impact on state and local government: Over the long run, this measure would likely have little fiscal impact on state and local governments. ALL my life, I've feltfear and terror and shyness and a lack of worth, having grown up knowing that I was the object of scorn and ridicule simply for having feelings and ideas that weren't "mainstream" or ?"acceptable" or whatever. I was laughed at , beaten up, berated, put down, left out And essentially marginalized ALL MY ADULT life.... I've never known what it must feel like to actually be "free" to do as I pleased or to walk about feeling safe and secure. I am NOT a "homeowner" I am decidedly single, and I have no investments. What, I ask, about ME???? Do I not have rights??? Am I not an American??? I am WEARY of being stomped on by the dominant culture. Of being dismissed and left out. NO MORE!!!! Today I know that there a re MILLIONS like me. We are a sleeping GIANT, that is rumbling awake
