| FREEDOM TO MARRY DAY Saturday, February 14, Valentine's Day, 11 AM In March, the California Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in lawsuits challenging Proposition 8. While they rarely admit it, courts can be swayed by public pressure. We need to keep up the momentum for marriage equality by making this year's Freedom To Marry Day the biggest ever! We will be protesting outside the Cook County marriage license office, demanding marriage equality for our area and showing solidarity with our California friends. Please RSVP at the event's facebook page, and invite all your friends. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1088603445#/event.php?eid=123437705110 | 118 N Clark Street, Chicago Google Map It! | Organizer: Join The Impact Chicago, Gay Liberation Network Contact info: jointheimpactchicago@gmail.com Supporting Organizations: Join The Impact Chicago Gay Liberation Network www.GayLiberation.net |

Hey everyone. I belong to a neo-pagan group based in Chicago, the Brotherhood of the Phoenix. This Saturday, we are holding a workshop to share ideas in Activism. Details are below.
The Brotherhood of the Phoenix Presents: From Riots to the Ballot Box: The Gay Rights Movement, and Mentoring the Next Generation of Activists DATES AND TIMES Saturday, January 17th, 2009 Workshop: 5:30pm – 7:00pm --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- LOCATION Lifeforce Arts 3148 N. Lincoln Avenue Chicago, IL 60657 (map, public transit, & location photo: http://tinyurl.com/5o4k26) Cost: $10 (no-one will be turned away for lack of funds) Open to the general public, anyone 18 and over is welcome to attend. In this workshop, we will review the history of the gay rights movement, and how this history affects us today. We will also discuss the different types of activism in the context of the four elements. We will discuss how we can assist others in finding and using their strengths, and supporting each other through our wisdom and experience. The workshop will include a brief ceremony to reignite the fires of Activism. At 7:30, the Brotherhood is holing a ritual, Quitus: A Celebration of the Stillness Within. This ritual is open only to gay, bisexual, and trans-gender men who love men. To learn more about this and future events, visit our website, http://temple.brotherhoodofthephoenix.org/events

Hi guys! I think it would be awesome if we could get together a huge crowd and light up Michigan Ave on the 20th. We could also march like on NOV 15.
Or any other ideas? I just think we should definitely meet up to be eye-catching!!! |
