| 9 PM Meeting place changed!! Water Street Grill 1265 W. 9th Street Water Street Grill has graciously offered their restaurant as a warm place to gather before the vigil! We'll then be walking through warehouse district with candles, silence and sporadic carols. Please be on time so we can walk as a group. If you can't make the vigil, get a group of 5-10 friends together, print out the Light Up the Night Holiday Cards, and head to your local mall and start passing them out. Don't forget to keep count of how many cards you passed out. There will be a place to report the numbers soon! | willow@jointheimpact.com http://www.facebook.com/inbox/?drop=&ref=mb#/event.php?eid=39012398252 Volunteer Coordinator Justin wildlifelover1984@yahoo.com | We will be gathering outdoors, so dress warmly. You can make a box to collect food in at school, work, your place of worship, etc. Make sure you label the box and that you either have permission or put it someplace where you can keep an eye on it. Spread the word! Get all of your friends and family to donate boxes/cans of non-perishable food. Ask them to take their own box to work, school, their place of worship or wherever they can. Have friends over for dinner or a party. They can bring their own food potluck style and ALSO bring non-perishable food items for those in need. Reach out to your neighbors. Go door to door on your street asking for non-perishable food items. You can take flyers and empty bags if you have them to leave in doors that don't answer with a date that you'll make one last trip through. Anyone that DOES answer you can share this date with and tell them to keep the food drive in mind when they make their grocery store run. Take a buddy with you door to door to make this more fun and ensure safety. Work with the groups, teams, or clubs you are a member of to have an even bigger impact. Students might be able to set up a table with information about the food drive and boxes to collect food at school/on campus. Plan on advertising what you're doing in advance or pick a few days in a row to be in the same place if you want to collect the food in person. Ask local grocery stores or high traffic places if you can leave boxes there. Work with local clubs and bars to offer a discount or free admission if people bring food to donate on a certain night. No matter how you collect food for the Food Drive, include the information about why you're collecting the food the final date, January 10th, as well as the web address www.JoinTheImpact.com so more people can get involved! Food will be donated to local food pantries (to be determined). We will be donating to organizations that are gay friendly as well as those that are not. There is a Facebook event page (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=47955051634) that you can use to invite your friends to participate. Contact us for details on drop off locations at any time. Hey there, on the JTI site is says that the National LGBTQ Food Drive for Equality has already started in Cleveland. Do you folks have any advice for others that want to start this in their own communities?
