Attend the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors Meeting with your family. There are five members of our board of supervisors. Four of them are unaware that gays and lesbians have children and families. Show the Board of Sups that we exist. REMEMBER: The Contra Costa Board of Supes voted 4 to 1 NOT to join the lawsuit against Prop. 8 filed by other counties and municipalities. Their vote was held secretly - the public was not allowed to comment. The Board of Supervisors holds regular weekly meetings at 9:30 am on Tuesday mornings. The public is welcome to attend. After the Board of Supervisor's meeting there will be a child-friendly reception. The Supervisors are invited to attend. This is a good opportunity to meet other GLBT families, and see which of the Supervisors is sympathetic to our cause. This event is sponsored by the Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County. The RCC is asking for help from Join The Impact. This is a precursor event to the February 12th Marriage Equality Demonstration at the county clerk’s office. Ahead of the January 10th nation-wide protest against DOMA, let’s make new protest signs. Our signs need to be colorful, fun, and visible from a news helicopter.
We have reserved the meeting room at Panama Red Coffee in Concord for four hours. Bring cardboard, construction paper, stencils, glue, markers, glitter, and poster paint. Think up some really great slogans – use your imagination and creativity. If you don’t have any poster board or crayons – come anyway! I’m sure there will be extra arts & crafts supplies. I will provide the handles (sticks) for the signs. Sign handles should not be thicker than ¾ inch, and I have a source of craft moldings that size. Please RSVP so I know how many sticks to bring. Nichole "Love is Beautiful - Fight H8" Where: Panama Red Coffee (in Todos Santos Plaza across from the large clock) 2151 Salvio St Concord, CA 94520 (925) 969-9390 When: Sunday, January 4th 10am to 2pm

I will be calling the WCPD to see if we need a permit.
We most likely will not unless we have more than 100 people, but I will get back to y'all. Melissa |
