Invite as many people as you can.
Bring homemade protest signs and accessories. Buy products (yard signs, bumper stickers, banners, etc.) and donate to the 'California Marriage Equality Act' ballot campaign.
Have refreshments: Bottled water, snacks, etc.

Remember: Please be respectful and civil with people who may disagree with you. Have police authorities with you during the protest/rally. This is to help keep civility and stability.
California has a huge diverse population and its up to this ballot initiative campaign to reach out and speak up for the Golden State's diversity.

What can you do to support marriage equality NOW? Speak to at least three people you know whether it be a friend, relative, or acquaintance from California. Keep up the conversation for months and don't give up.

Please note that this event is just a plan. Grassroots protests and rallies won't begin probably until the start of the 2010 Gubernatorial Election, which is next year.
But it never hurts to start grassroots conversations NOW and begin gathering supporters when the event comes. Take care!

The Board of Supervisors holds regular weekly meetings at 9:30 am on Tuesday mornings. The public is welcome to attend.

After the Board of Supervisor's meeting there will be a child-friendly reception. The Supervisors are invited to attend. This is a good opportunity to meet other GLBT families, and see which of the Supervisors is sympathectic to our cause.

This is a precursor event to the February 12th Marriage Equality Demonstration at the county clerk’s office.

More details on the February 12th event to follow!
Rainbow Family Day

Attend the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors Meeting with your family. There are five members of our board of supervisors. Four of them are unaware that gays and lesbians have children and families. Show the Board of Sups that we exist.

REMEMBER: The Contra Costa Board of Supes voted 4 to 1 NOT to join the lawsuit against Prop. 8 filed by other counties and municipalities. Their vote was held secretly - the public was not allowed to comment.

Food Drive For Equality When, Where, How
11/28 Natl Food Drive for Equality - Join the Impact In the spirit of the holiday season, let's set aside our own struggles and needs, to demonstrate to the nation and the world the collective power of the LGBTQ community to be a force of betterment for all society.
Our efforts to alleviate the hunger America is facing in this difficult time will be indiscriminate with regards to creed or political philosophy. These are gaps we can and must bridge if we are going to achieve equality in this country.

WHAT IS
LIGHT UP THE NIGHT FOR EQUALITY?

HOW DOES IT WORK?

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?
On December 20th, we ask that you join us again for a nation-wide demonstration that will make an impact on the private sector. Candlelight vigils will be held at commercial centers in cities across the country in remembrance of the rights that once were for 18,000 marriages, and in honor of the rights that one day will be again - for EVERYONE.

candle
Please take to your local commercial district -- be it a shopping mall, outdoor financial center, you name it. Check your city page for the time and location of your event.

This will be a peaceful demonstration in the spirit of the holidays.

Dress alike. Wear the same t-shirts or signs pinned to your coats. You can make or buy a "2nd Class Citizen" t-shirt, but the message is optional. Learn more about why we suggest "2nd Class Citizen."

This will be the culmination of our National Food Drive for Equality

This is a vigil not a protest.
Hosting peaceful candlelight vigils

We will stay silent unless asked aquestion, we will not yell, instigate, or bear signs. Instead, we will let our shirts do the talking and our candles pay our respects. Bring candles (battery powered if you'll be huddling inside).

Singing and/or silence encouraged...chanting is not....keep it peaceful and in the holiday spirit.
