Help eliminate support systems for the promotion of harmful discrimination and cultural bias in our K-12 public schools. Since when do we designate as a "patriotic organization" of the U.S. a group that not only is discriminatory, but puts itself, and it's processes forth as a role model for kids and young adults? The Lesbian, Gay and Straight Education Network reports that in our nations schools 84.6 % of Lgbt students report being verbally harassed, 40.1% report being physically harassed, and 18.8% report being physically assaulted. Please sign the petition, help spread the word, and eliminate support systems for discrimination and the promotion of cultural bias from our K-12 school campuses. So now what? The Tea Party lit up Tax day April 15th. Do they get the last word? Have they been struggling for HUNDREDS OF YEARS, trying to get their government to do what they would like? They are just having a small taste of what it's like. What it's like to have
The Supreme Court make you property: Dred Scott V. Sanford The Supreme Court deny you education: Plessy V. Fergusson The Supreme Court take away your land and rights: Cherokee Nation V. Georgia The Supreme Court interferes in your sex life: Bowers V. Hardwick The Supreme Court taking Public broadband and giving it to corporations: FCC v. Fox (?) The Supreme Court deciding that Corporations can participate in elections: Citizen's United v. F.E.C. The Supreme Court deciding when a woman's body is her own: Roe V. Wade The Supreme Court directly infringing on your privacy rights by supporting the Patriot Act With Prop 8 passing, and Don't Ask Don't Tell not getting repealed. With the Supreme Court denying millions of votes to be counted and over riding States Rights: BUSH V. GORE 2000 And lastly the furor of states filing petition to take back the latest health care law... I think we ought to come out IN VERY LARGE NUMBERS with an EMERGENCY MARCH on International Labor Day and tell the country if we couldn't get the REcount, you're not getting the REpeal!! and then put the Supreme Court on a term limit like 20 years. Help Me spread the word and let's show Fox and Friends how it's done!

im starting a sort of protest. to make people see how homophobia is hurtful and wrong. i started an event on facebook already but i want this to get bigger. i want people to really see it! you can look it up on facebook (please do) but if you dont have a facebook read this:
International Day Against Homophobia is all about raising awareness that being a homosexual is okay. And that being a homosexual doesn't mean you're unlike anyone else, that you should be accepted just as everyone else is. Homosexuality is not a sickness, and it's not contagious: spread the word. Allow homosexuals to feel accepted, to be themselves as everyone else is. Help end homophobia. also: its been decided that everyone whos attending should wear a plain black shirt, to silently protest the pain homophobes can cause. by making people feel they cant be themselves, putting them in a black hole. making them feel unaccepted because of who they are. and, if you can, write "gay rights are human rights" on your arm, iron it on your black shirt, make it a hat, a poster, etc. its a world wide thing. and it will be on may 17. please do what you can to help get this message across to everyone!

"WE WILL NOT BE QUIET!!!"
1) Michael Waddoups, president of our state Senate, has said over the last few days that: “offensive activities” will provoke the legislature into drafting legislation against the LGBTQ community. 2) The Utah Legislature has officially refused to even allow research to be done into whether or not Utah should include Sexual Orientation in their Anti-Discrimination policies. NEWS FLASH: WE NEED IT TO BE INCLUDED!!! And it works. We have proof. 3) The overall atmosphere of the Utah legislature is clearly discriminatory with the likes of the Senate President Waddoups, Senator Buttars and Rick Votow vocally opposing any rights being granted to our community. OUR DEMANDS: 1) First and foremost, we require an apology from Senator Waddoups for his comment seeking to silence the homosexual community. 2) We strongly urge Representative Vickers and Senator Stowell to declaim Senator Waddoups statements. 3) We request that the Utah legislature allows the research process to continue so that anti-discrimination policies may be updated in a timely fashion to include sexual orientation. Utah GLBT Community with Allies hold rally to protest recent legislative inaction, words and tone of State Sen. Pres. and GOP Leaders. Hi:
I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for your efforts in the struggle for equality. I am inviting couples from all over the country to join me for a marriage equality celebration in NH on Jan. 1st, when the laws in New Hampshire change to allow same-sex marriage. We will perform legal ceremonies for the couples planning to tie the knot and have a reception with dinner and dancing to follow. We are also going to do a Meet and Greet party and New Year's Eve party on the 30th and 31st of Dec. Hope you can join us. Spread the word. We want as many couples who are ready to marry to make Jan. 1st their date. We'll broadcast live on the internet so the world can see that people will not be discouraged by what happened in California and Maine. Love will prevail. Let's all celebrate in unison and start 2010 off properly, with equal rights for all. Our events are open to any supporters of gay marriage rights. Call for details 954.987.5141 |

The Obama Administration has just defended DOMA with hateful speech, and now they want our money. They are planning The 10th Annual LGBT Leadership Council Dinner on Thursday June 26th at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (1330 Maryland Avenue, SW Washington, DC)- Reception - 5:30 PM, Dinner & Program - 7:00 PM.
The Obama spokesman,Gibbs, said that the Obama administration will not cross a picket line to make appearances. They pulled out of the Mayors meeting this past weekend to support firefighters, let's see if they have the same dedication to picketers when they are trying to raise money for themselves. If you can get to the DC area on June 26th, make your views known. Stand outside the hotel peacefully and challenge Obama to explain his "fierce advocate" status.

What about an event where we target a certain week to email our senators, congresspersons and state representatives, and Barack Obama. If all the mail arrives at once, they will notice. Don't use a form letter. Encourage each person to write why these rights matter to them. Ask specifically for what you want. Tell them if you are gay, straight, black, white, age - anything you are comfortable with. Put it on Facebook as an event. Give people instructions on how to locate their representatives (there must be a website somewhere). Ask your local news stations to air it as news. Write letters to the editor about the event. Post it on the blogs of your local news papers. Post it to places straight people read. Handout flyers at the local mall or farmers market.

Pride is around the corner. There will be events nationwide. While the gay and lesbian community and organizations, have made wonderful changes, it has been a slow process. While I have faith that the gay and lesbian community will push through, I think it would happen faster with “straight support”. I am suggesting that that each person attending a Pride event should bring someone who supports them and “SHOW Their PRIDE”. That means twice the voices. I will proudly go with my Son to this event. I will wear my Pride moto on a T-shirt- “I love all my children- even the straight one.” I will openly support my other friends and loved ones too but it would be good if everyone could bring one person. If you agree with what I am suggesting, then please pass this on to anyone who might care. If you are a supporter, please attend Pride events with your friends or family members.

A day of silence:
All day, people across the nation do not talk and wear silver Duct tape across their mouth that states, “Victim of H8”, “shhh I’m Gay”, “shh my son’s gay” or anything along those lines, to show everyone else how many people are gay or have someone in their family who is gay. We walk into gas station, restaurants, school, and work like this. All day we have our mouths taped shut, no one talks. See how quiet the nation is. I get this idea from “a day with out a gay” but not everyone can call in gay. If you have to talk at work, only talk about business no personal talk, and keep the piece of ducked tape on you shirt during work conversations. All day people will stair, and give us looks, wondering what this is all about…. ONLY answer them if they ask you a direct question about the statement we are trying to make.

The FDA currently has a policy that states “Men who have had sex with other men, at any time since 1977 are currently deferred as blood donors.” This means that a male who has had sex with another male even one time since 1977 is banned for life from donating blood. This policy was written in 1983, Twenty-five years later this policy is not only medically and scientifically unwarranted, it is also discriminatory.
The American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), America’s Blood Centers (ABC) and the American Red Cross (ARC) have stated that the lifetime ban for men who have sex with men "is medically and scientifically unwarranted" and that "it does not appear rational to broadly differentiate sexual transmission via male-to-male sexual activity from that via heterosexual activity on scientific grounds”. A gay man who has consistently tested negative for HIV and who has had only one protected sexual encounter with another man can never donate blood. However, a heterosexual man who has engaged in high-risk sexual activity (visited prostitutes) or has had intercourse with an HIV positive individual is only banned/ deferred for 1 year. On February 21st 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona upward of 100 otherwise eligible healthy blood donors, HIV-, Hepatitis B- and Hepatitis C- men will ask to give blood and save up to three lives each. Based on the current policy they will be denied the ability to donate. A second blood drive will take place in cities across the nation 91 days from the first blood drive, on May 23rd 2009. On May 23rd 2009 thousands of lives can be saved across the country. Through dialog and the sharing of scientific data in collaboration with American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), America’s Blood Centers (ABC) and the American Red Cross (ARC), we will be able to work with the FDA to create a new policy may be put into place that is not discriminatory against a group of people.

The protest will start on Central Ave at Beach Drive Downtown St. Pete and the march and madness will continue West on Central to 31st Street and end at Georgie's Alibi.
Those who want to really make a difference and quit the peaceful-get-ya-nowhere protest should contact me to confirm that you will attend. Oh and, please make the most obnoxious sign that you can think of to get your point across. I am tired of laying down peaceful and I hope that there are others out there like me that are ready to stand loud and proud and make a difference. Thanks, Larry Smith Fired Up Gays! 727-388-2601 |

The federal government confers 1,138 benefits and protections on marriage. Benefits and protections that gay couples do not get, even those married in Massachusetts and Connecticut. I have been making simple buttons with a white background and black lettering that only say, "1,138" and I've been giving them out for free, though I may start asking for a suggested donation. I ordered a 1,000 buttons for about $60 dollars. The button maker is a couple hundred dollars, but if a few people in one area chip in to pay for one, it's doable. I give these buttons along with examples of some of these 1,138 benefits. The button is meant to be a conversation starter. I've had several people (gay and straight) ask what the number refers to. Very few had any idea these benefits exist. If you want a button, send me your address. If you want to help make this a larger operation, let me know that as well.

Carl Joseph Walker Hoover and Jaheem Herrera, both eleven years old, hanged themselves in the last two weeks after merciless homophobic taunting by classmates, while school officials did nothing. This is UNACCEPTABLE. We must send an unequivocal message that bullying, fag-tagging, and queer-baiting WILL NOT not be tolerated in our schools, churches, or public institutions - PERIOD. IT'S CHILD ABUSE. "Boys being boys" doesn't cut it. From the pinnacle of the problem in the US Military where these demeaning tactics are employed from the moment recruits step off the bus--to college & high school sports teams & fraternity hazing--to the Boy Scouts who've "snipe-hunted" both gay & straight kids and their straight & gay fathers out of a Congressionally Chartered organization altogether -- to church youth groups who mask hatred and bigotry as the Love of Jesus=-ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Last Sunday, May 26th, the Bully-cide Siblings Alliance held our first BULLY-CIDE VIGIL at Matthew Shepard Memorial Triangle in West Hollywood, CA. On Sunday, May 3rd @ 7:30 PM [and every Sunday evening after that until Memorial Day Weekend] we will hold BULLY-CIDE VIGILS at the same location to honor our gay and straight little brothers and sisters who've taken their own lives in the depths of despair, isolation and hopelessness caused by bullying, fag-tagging and queer-baiting and say NO MORE BULLYING.
Please vote for JTI take this up. Our little brothers and sisters are counting on us. Please Don't Let Them Down. Rev. Scott Imler 323-656-5336
