ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Impact-Florida will hold a peaceful and respectful demonstration and candlelight vigil outside of Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Carole Rome's wedding and reception.
Governor Crist first stated he believed in a "Live and Let Live" attitude when speaking about Amendment 2. However, he then became an outspoken proponent of Amendment 2, which passed by a margin of only 1.9%. The vague and ambiguous wording of this amendment could go much further than promised. It could adversely effect domestic partners benefits of both heterosexual and gay Floridians. DATE: December 12, 2008 PHASE #1: Demonstration Outside Wedding Ceremony TIME: 6 P.M. (Although the Wedding is planned for 7 P.M. Participants are asked to arrive no latter than 6:00 P.M..) LOCATION: Williams Park, 330 2nd Ave N, Saint Petersburg, FL 33701 (Between 3rd St. North and 4th St. N on 2nd Avenue North. (Park is directly across 2nd Ave. N from the First United Methodist Church.) If anyone in the Daytona/New Smyrna/Edgewater/Ormond Beach/Holly Hill area is doing anything for this, I'd really like to know. Seems that not a single spot in Volusia County's going to have supporters for this cause, and I know it's a bit late to try and organize something on the fly.

I really don't have the means to start one myself (especially on such short notice). But if planning for something in Polk County is going on, please let me know. The closest one right now would be Orlando, and I can already imagine that parking anywhere NEAR the protest site is going to be impossible there even if I show up hours early.
So please, if something's going on in Polk County, or if someone with the experience to get one started in time can manage it, please hurry. I want to do my part, but realism and idealism are ripping me apart here. |

id LOVE to protest but i cant change my work schedule. or lose my job. i also cant organize anything with this little time (like i have any experience with that!) please somebody let me know.

we are adding another protest june2 to the list. we don't want people to forget and we want it to be even larger. for anyone who wants to get things organized email me at protestnoon2@yahoo.com. we have fliers available that can be emailed and printed out. We want everyone to contact thier local pride organizations, LGBT groups, and spread the word through all the local night clubs. The protest will start at four in frount of the local court houses and city halls. We also have a myspace page www.myspace.com/statewideprotest. Right now I have over fifty people contacting groups throughout the state and would love to get this thing as big as possible. We all say we are family it is time we come together as family to stand up and say enough!.

My name is Jordan Britt. I am attempting to organize all GLBT people and allies in this region of Florida to continue the fight for equality, in opposition to Amendment 2 and all the other efforts to maintain GLBT people as second class citizens. But I need your help to do it. I need to hear from all of you and we need to organize some sort of a resistance to Amendment 2.
