Thanks. That was a conversation I have been having in different circles and I think that is REALLY important to note. If we are fighting for equality, we are fighting for ALL, not just ourselves.

November 22- if you cannot travel to Sacramento to the large protest make it out to Pasadena! The point is to be visible, and stay visible. Let's get out of Hollywood and Silverlake and show people outside of our community that we will not go away!
5:30 - 10 p.m. in Old Town Pasadena, at Colorado Blvd and Fair Oaks. Join us for the afterparty at the only Gay friendly bar in Pasadena, check back on the facebook page or going.com for more updates about this. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=47106896109&ref=nf

This site is not community driven, and that's a problem. There is a lot of grass roots effort that is going on that isn't finding expression in the top leadership. The 8 Accountability Project is an OPEN, COMMUNITY-DRIVEN, fully featured action network that us little grass roots can use to advocate our projects, coordinate with one another, and so forth.
You can create regional or national groups, create discussion forums, post events, etc. It's controlled by the community and really DOES promote grass roots effort, unlike this site which talks about it but only links to the big regional organizations, and frankly they can be a little unresponsive. Kudos to this site for everything that they ARE doing well, which is creating these really BIG rallies. We love you, and keep it up. For all of those out there doing smaller rallies such as at individual businesses, etc, or just wanting to coordinate with others in your area, http://8accountability.org is the way to go. Please check out http://8Accountability.org And please come to invalidate 8 fund-raiser and WKS/El Pollo Loco rally to raise of awareness of how we spend our GLBTQ dollars November Saturday 22nd. Event details here: http://8accountability.ning.com/events/long-beach-wks-el-pollo-loco Thank you! -s

Hi ...
I don't see this posted anywhere. Please help get the word out! Thank you very much... Tonya EVENT DETAILS TAKE IT TO SACRAMENTO ON NOVEMBER 22ND! With the unfortunate outcome of the recent passage of Proposition 8, the GLBT community has united in a presence that we have not seen since the early 1980’s and the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It is with great respect that California Outreach, in partnership with Equality Action Now, humbly asks you to join GLBT individuals and organizations, PFLAG and our straight brothers and sisters at a peaceful outreach on the steps of the California State Capitol Building at 2:00pm on November 22nd. Please join us as we reach out to all the citizens of California to demonstrate that we will not tolerate discrimination to be written into our State Constitution. Hi... Please share this information with everyone you know or any lists that you are on... Who: Anyone and everyone. Where: California State Capitol Building, Sacramento, CA When: 11/22/08 2:00PM Why: Equal Rights are inalienable and CANNOT be taken away. In 1987 the largest rally for gay rights in Sacramento took place, counting 15,000 strong. We need to stand together and make a statement that we will not stand idly by and let the rights of our sons, daughters, parents, and friends be taken away. Twenty one years later — 30,000 strong. Are YOU ready to make history? The success of this event depends upon getting the word out. Invite your friends! |

Well as a straight american I just wanted to say that prop 8 is a sad reminder of a 21st Century America living in a 20th Century society.. Also I would like to point out on the Day of Silence.. the silence is no more.. and never should have been you need to stand up and let your voice be heard not silenced thats why this horrible bill has passed. Now that people are protesting across the country and the whole world our voices are being heard. Whether your Gay,Straight,or Both. The world needs to hear our voices. Our Time is NOW...

Because I believe in equal rights for ALL people, and I don't think loving another human being is ever wrong, I am supporting this site, and the movement to promote love and equality. In my effort to spread the word, I wrote to Rosie O'Donnell last night using the pseudonym: "Join-the-Impact." Rosie posted my comment that contained the info on the Nov. 15th Prop 8 Protests, and the Join the Impact.com web link on her "Ask Ro" blog today, (Sat., Nov. 15th). It will be seen by tens of thousands of people! Check it out at www.Rosie.com/askro ~Thank you Rosie! Yours in Peace & Love... ~Kelli-Marie -Santa Rosa, CA

Hi All!
In my efforts to find stuff for marketing the movement I got some t-shirts and stickers from www.cafepress.com!! Go there and you will find mens and womens t-shirts, baby gear, bags, stickers etc!! Just type in keyword "equality" and hundreds of cool items will come up relevant to the LGBTQ community! I bought "Repeal Prop 8" bumper stickers to give away at the march tomorrow! They are expensive (100$ for 50) and worth it! Happy marching and protesting!

if you only have your narrow minded bigotted messages of hate , fear and stupidity to post you should in the least post your name..... or are you afraid of what everyone will think of you once they realize that you are
a mindless lemming that is afraid of their own shadow and doesnt have the backbone to actually stand up for something that is just and right. If all you have to say is vile messages of fear , loathing and ignorance then do us all a favor and shut the fuck up. TWRoss San Luis Obispo CA.

There will be a protest against the passage of Proposition 8 at 2:00 pm on Nov. 15th in front the Church of Scientology - 700 Montgomery Street. Right across from the Transamerica Pyramid in the city of San Francisco. Please come out and support the gay community of California and surrounding towns. Proposition 8 is wrong and unfair!
The Church of Scientology has supported this measure. The Church of Scientology supported the lambasted Proposition 8. They also claim they have a cure for homosexuality. These people want to eliminate gays according to their doctrines of Dianetics which is sold at during their Dianetics Stress Tests in the Powell Bart Station. http://www.prlog.org/10130218-scientology-cult-supports-california-anti-gay-marrage-amendment.html This is part of the statewide protest against Prop 8 this Saturday. For more info, go to www.eqca.org. This what Scientology thinks of Gays: (In his book “Science of Survival,: L. Ron Hubbard establishes a “tone scale,” ranging from -3 to +4, for classifying categories of people and evaluating human behavior. “Perverts,” as he classified lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people, fall at 1.1 on Hubbard’s scale. He considered them to be extremely dangerous to society.) |

I rec'd an email from Cathedral of Hope about the protest so if you're in Dallas I'm pretty sure permits have been handled. If you wanna see if your city has issued a permit already to cover the protest for all then you can contact your city hall and ask.

Hello - I just noticed an ad for the Mormon Church on Huffington Post. Although I don't condone boycotting Huffington Post - because they lean towards truth generally - and liberal causes... I just wrote to them, asking why they accept ads from this church - the largest supporter of yes on 8.
Thank you.
