| Lawrence King Candle Light Vigil | February 12, 2009 | ||
| ORGANIZER CONTACT INFO | TIME & LOCATION | EVENT DETAILS |
| Daniel Orton HeightsFrom_Above89@msn.com (803)261-9644 | Thursday, February 12th, 2009 at 6:30 PM to 7PM in front of city hall. Please bring a candle and anything else you wish to display in remembrance of this brave 15 year old boy. Be sure to dress for moderate weather (60° weather with 30% chance rain expected). Will update as week progresses. UPDATE: 25 candles have been purchased! If you plan on being late, you may be candle-less! | Lawrence "Larry" King was 15 when he was shot in the head one year ago by his classmate. Fellow students say that weeks before, Larry had come out as gay and was being bullied by a group of his peers, including the boy charged with his murder. We need to stop sending a message to our children saying it's 'ok to bully people who are different.' Let's send that message tonight with a peaceful candle light vigil. |

| STILL NEED AN ORGANIZER Organizing is easy, but if you don't have an organizer in your city, get a group of 5-10 friends together, print out the Light Up the Night Holiday Cards, and head to your local mall and start passing them out. Don't forget to keep count of how many cards you passed out. There will be a place to report the numbers soon! | |||||
