Growing our Grass RootsThis is a featured page

It is not enough to work on our own, we must work within our families and communities for GLBT civil rights. We must find ways to reach out, in ever increasing circles, beyond our comfort zones to touch the hearts and minds of or communities. We must find ways to speak and share the truths of who we are to each and every corner of this Nation.

The rally's of the 15th were wonderful. Rally's and protests are only a part of the equation. We must find ways to reach out heart to heart and mind to mind to our fellow American's if we are going to rally We The People behind our cause.

This page, and it's threads serve as a forum to share and discuss ideas for how we can do this. Along the lines of the 10 conversations/10 months initiative. How can we reach out, beyond the circles of friends and family, to our larger social circles and co-workers and communities?

In my case, I've started with a blog "Gay Marriage (or something like it)"

http://gaymarriageorsomethinglikeit.blogspot.com/

In writing and building this blog, and finding organizations to link to and other blogs, I have learned a lot about GLBT civil rights and about myself. I am also finding my own voice, and gaining the resources to be able to speak to my family, coworkers, and community about GLBT civil rights. Now that I've begun to find my voice, I find myself wondering how to take that voice to the people who most need to hear it?

How to spread the word, How to share the message, How do we grow our grass roots?

Hi there Join the Impact! My name is Julie Phineas and I am an Executive Editor for www.lezgetreal.com. We are a blog with real lesbians around the world sharing their perspective on the world. You can bet that we are covering every aspect of the LGBT Civil Rights Movement, and were doing our best to help fight against Prop. 8 in California, and the other ammendments that affected gay rights this past election. Please feel free to stop by any time, reach out to us, send us tips or info we need to be aware of so that we can keep the information in front of our readers as well as promote it across the internet. We are a blog with writers going into the streets, reaching out to campaign leaders, touching base with celebs, and making sure our voice is heard! Please take advantage of that and let us know what we can do to help. Much love everyone!!!

Sincerely,

~Julie Phineas~
