Hey everyone,
I'm sure the organizers will give you some information on this, but I feel I should chime in with a couple of suggestions, just in case:
1. Keep moving. You are allowed to peaceably assemble on public property, including the sidewalk that runs in front of City Hall. You are not permitted to stand still, block traffic, or otherwise create a public nuisance with the protest. Depending on the number of participants, I might suggest that you walk east and west on the sidewalk on the south-side of W. Duval Street in the 100 block. If there are really large numbers, it would be permissible to circle Hemming Plaza on the sidewalks of W. Duval, W. Monroe, N. Laura and N. Hogan. Whatever makes the most sense to the organizer(s). The key is to keep moving.
2. In the event of a counter-protest, resist the urge to engage the other side in direct conflict. Shouting is fine, if you must, just no direct engagement. Plus, you don't want the message of the event -- inclusiveness and equality -- to get lost in any sort of negative press about violence. Nonviolent protest works due to nonviolence.
3. Our side will have legal observers in place to make sure there are no problems with the lawful exercise of a peaceful protest. Have fun -- be bold -- bring friends and family. This is a cause worth fighting for.
