This was my first protest of anything. I went with my sister, who recently came out! It was so amazing to see the support of the community - there must have been over 1,000 people in attendance, and we lined JC Nichols Pkwy, receiving loads of honks, thumps-ups, peace signs, and waves. SO FEW people seemed disinterested/offended/ticked off that we were there. They were by far the exception to the norm. Old folks, guys in pickup trucks, bus drivers, taxi drivers, rich folks in Caddy's - it was amazing to see their support of where we stood. I'm so excited to be involved here, and I look forward to many more of these events. But, I must say, I hope it doesn't snow next time! We left a couple hours into it because someone said my lips were turning blue!!! Haha! I hope to see everyone next time - even if it sleets!!

I don't want us to lose our momentum.
I want us to stand outside the downtown Cathedral. I want us to stand outside the biggest Mormon church in the city. I want them to know that we are not cowed in Cowtown! |
