This is the first time groups representing the LGBTQ community and it's issues have been invited to participate in the Mesa Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade. Let's show up in large numbers to thank the parade committee for their support, and show the Mesa community that we are a large and strong group.

We will meet at 10 am at the SE corner of McDonald & 1st Ave in Mesa. East Valley LGBTQ's for Change is Group #51. Marriage Equality USA - AZ is Group #52.

At 11 am we will march to Center St, down Center to the Mesa Amphitheater where the MLK festival will be held. Bring flags, hershey's kisses to hand to the kids, your smile, and bottled water, wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate sun screen.

Let's have fun. There will be marching bands, antique cars, groups of people, horses. Group #50 includes horses so although you are welcome to bring your dog, please make sure they are able to handle being around much larger animals.

....you were born a turtle and everyone looked at you or perceived you as a "rabbit" ?? Can you imagine "hopping" through life for 20 some-odd years knowing you should be crawling "slowly" because you are indeed a "turtle" by nature/birth? This is what trans are doing. Just imagine living most of your entire life "covering" or "pretending" ? Woefully, I don't even think that a high percentage of trans persons are doing this. Instead, they are hiding out, in their bedrooms, bathrooms, wherever they can find the slightest inkling of comfort and compassion within themselves, to be who they are and actually were BORN to be. My heart breaks. When anyone asks why I feel so strongly about this I dare to ask: "What would YOU do if you had to think, feel, respond, LIVE, (I could go on...) as someone you are not" !!!!!!

Who does this hurt? NO ONE. No one had to vote on my marriage. No one had to judge me. No one was asked to form an opinion of the relationship that I have been in - - I am so close to standing up on my "soap box" but am restraining myself. Please - I think I need help as much, if not more than transgenders..... we have to bring this issue to the forefront and make it a priority! Straight allies please listen to this and feel it and ..... help.
Do you find this valuable?
