Bring homemade protest signs and accessories. Buy products (yard signs, bumper stickers, banners, etc.) and donate to the 'California Marriage Equality Act' ballot campaign. Have refreshments: Bottled water, snacks, etc. Remember: Please be respectful and civil with people who may disagree with you. Have police authorities with you during the protest/rally. This is to help keep civility and stability. | California has a huge diverse population and its up to this ballot initiative campaign to reach out and speak up for the Golden State's diversity. What can you do to support marriage equality NOW? Speak to at least three people you know whether it be a friend, relative, or acquaintance from California. Keep up the conversation for months and don't give up. Please note that this event is just a plan. Grassroots protests and rallies won't begin probably until the start of the 2010 Gubernatorial Election, which is next year. Valentine's Day-Saturday, Feb. 14th, 1pm-3pm We will be meeting at Windows on the Bay in Monterey (the intersection of Del Monte Ave and Camino El Estero). In case of rain, we will move the event to the Peace & Justice Center in Seaside at 1364 Fremont. | We will be celebrating the holiday by taking action for marriage equality. We will be sending valentine's to our elected leaders, and listening to elected speakers discuss the history of the holiday, what is going on with the challenge to Proposition 8, and what is going to be happening in Monterey. The event is free and open to all. Bring your rally signs and Celebrate Love. Take Action. |

Come join us for the festivities and sign the open letter. Specific info is below- Center for Change Opening 60 Bonifacio Plaza, Monterey Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4pm | Even if there's no rally organized you can still contribute to our goal of obtaining 1 MILLION SIGNATURES on the Open Letter to Obama asking him to keep his promises to the LGBTQ community. Some easy ways to get signatures on this letter are: 1. Take them to ally rich places such as gay bars, allied church and organization mtgs, college campuses 2. Print a copy and carry it wherever you go (work, class, meeting friends, family gatherings, etc) 3. Send the letter to everyone you know by email asking them to print it and get signatures and forward your email 4. make sure you're using the official signature page please so we can have a united front when we send the letter off |
LIGHT UP THE NIGHT FOR EQUALITY | DECEMBER 20, 2008 | 5PM WHAT IS IT? On December 20th, we ask that you join us again for a nation-wide demonstration that will make an impact on the private sector. Candlelight vigils will be held at commercial centers in cities across the country in remembrance of the rights that once were for 18,000 marriages, and in honor of the rights that one day will be again - for EVERYONE.

It was so wonderful to have so many people come out and support love and equality. All the positive feedback has been wonderful. I am looking forward to the next gathering, but hoping that we won't need too many more.
