We have no permits, nor do I know anything of any permit laws. So lets tentatively meet in front of the first churches, and the new chain clothes store, by the bus stop near the benches at 1:30 on Saturday the 10th to correspond with the demonstrations in the rest of the country.

"Marriage is a Civil Right: Join the Struggle for LGBT Liberation", Thursday, Jan. 8, 7pm, Media Education Foundation, 60 Masonic Street, Northampton. www.isonoho.org for more info. Come to the meeting to find a ride to Boston on Jan. 10!
If no one comes but me and the friends I bring, I plan to talk to people as they pass by and ask them if they are interested in asking President Obama to follow through on his promises to the LGBTQ communities in this country.

If other people want to get involved we should meet at 1:30 and discuss tactics and ground rules to keep everyone involved comfortable.

Please print as many copies of the letter and the signaturepages as possible.
at the link below or thislink.

if people want to get together on friday to make signs Food Not Bombs has gathered much cardboard and paint for such an occasion. Please call or email tony! :)

The meeting on Jan. 8 will be a talk on the movement for marriage equality and LGBT liberation, as well as an opportunity to arrange carpooling to the DOMA protest in Boston.

LIGHT UP THE NIGHT FOR EQUALITY | DECEMBER 20, 2008 | 5PM
WHAT IS IT?
On December 20th, we ask that you join us again for a nation-wide demonstration that will make an impact on the private sector. Candlelight vigils will be held at commercial centers in cities across the country in remembrance of the rights that once were for 18,000 marriages, and in honor of the rights that one day will be again - for EVERYONE.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Please take to your local commercial district at 5PM--be it a shopping mall, outdoor financial center, you name it.
  • This will be a peaceful demonstration in the spirit of the holidays.
  • We'll dress alike: make or buy a "Second Class Citizen" t-shirt.
  • This will be the culmination of our National Food Drive for Equality event (see below for details)
WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?

  • Hosting peaceful candlelight vigils
  • We will stay silent unless asked a question, we will not yell, instigate, or bare signs. Instead, we will let our shirts do the talking and our candles pay our respects.Bring candles (battery powered if you'll be huddling inside).
  • Singing and/or silence encouraged...chanting is not....keep it peaceful and in the holiday spirit.

STILL NEEDS AN ORGANIZER

Organizing is easy, but if you don't have an organizer in your city, get a group of 5-10 friends together, print out the Light Up the Night Holiday Cards, and head to your local mall and start passing them out. Don't forget to keep count of how many cards you passed out. There will be a place to report the numbers soon!

On October 10-11, people from all over the country will meet in Washington, DC to march for equal rights for LGBT people. This is an important step for the movement of LGBT people and allies, recently reinvigorated by the protests of tens of thousands in California and across the country in response to the anti-gay Prop-8, to demand full LGBT equality! The International Socialist Organization in Western Mass. created this group as part of our effort to put together a coalition of organizations and activists to bring busloads of people to DC as a Western Mass. contingent to help make sure this march is a success and to help grow the movement for LGBT equality in Western Mass.
