Police responding to the report of a body in the house found the three men shot to death. | Three men found shot to death in 7th Ward house by Brendan McCarthy, The Times-Picayune Saturday December 13, 2008, 7:15 PM New Orleans police Saturday afternoon discovered the bodies of three men who apparently had been shot inside a 7th Ward home two days earlier.
Building manager Ron Bryant, who was working on the other half of the coffee-colored shotgun double house at 2523 Pauger St., said he saw the lower half of a man's body through a window and called police about 12:30 p.m. The identities of the victims had not been released as of late Saturday, but police released some information. They said the shootings probably took place early Thursday morning. The victims were all adult males, though one of them was wearing women's clothes. There were no signs of forced entry, and detectives believe the shooting was not a home invasion. Officer Shereese Harper, a Police Department spokeswoman, said detectives also think the victims and their killer or killers were associates and may have entered the home together. The victims were last seen about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Several neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area about two hours later. Bryant said neighbors hadn't seen the murder victims in days, and the report of gunshots, combined with the men's disappearance, prompted him to peer in the front window Saturday. Within minutes of his call, officers and detectives swarmed the block. NOPD Superintendent Warren Riley, dressed in civilian clothes, and Assistant Superintendent Marlon Defillo were among those surveying the scene. Riley called the triple murder an "unfortunate situation" and said that statistics show crime rates have been down lately in the city. Homicide Detective Michael McCleery is in charge of the investigation. Within hours of the discovery of the bodies, Crimestoppers offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible. Police ask anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111 or toll-free at 877.903.7867. Callers do not have to give their names or testify. Many people who died of AIDS-related causes did not receive funerals, due to both the social stigma of AIDS felt by surviving family members and the outright refusal by many funeral homes and cemeteries to handle the deceased's remains. Lacking a memorial service or grave site, The Quilt was often the only opportunity survivors had to remember and celebrate their loved ones' lives. The Quilt was last displayed in full on The Mall in Washington, D.C., in 1996. Will Gay Marriage gain any additional worth because it is limited to a man and a woman? How so? Marriage is not a Stock Market Investment where the rarity of the product dictates the market value. Marriage is not rare. Marriage is entered into because the couple involved love each other and want to enter into a legal partnership in sharing their lives together. How is this impacted in any way if the right to Marriage is extended to Same Sex couples? Do the other couples now love each other less because other Same Sex couples want to share the same rights? Proponents of Same Sex Marriage Rights are not requesting that churches perform Same Sex Marriages. The very idea flies in the face of the US Constitution which prohibits government from interfering in religion and vice versa. What we are seeking is State recognized Marriage comparable in legal stature to traditional Marriage. This has absolutely nothing to do with any church. Granting Gays this right would show that promises of equality are more than just spoken words. Most importantly, it will eliminate a lot of the fear that fuels bigotry. When the right of Gay Marriage is here for a while and men and women still love their spouse and couples continue to marry, people will see that fear is unfounded. When we stop fearing each other it will make it easier to address all of the other problems that plague us regardless of our age, race, religion, gender or sexual preference. |

No ceremony can create a marriage, only all of us (community, family friends and neighbors) can do that through love and patience, dedication and perseverance, talking and listening, helping and supporting, believing in one another, tenderness and laughter; learning to forgive, learning to appreciate the differences, and by learning to make the important things matter. What this ceremony can do is to witness and affirm the choice we make to stand together as partners in marriage.” |

Come What May, I Will Love You Until My Dying Day
Never knew I could feel like this
Like I've never seen the sky before
Want to vanish inside your kiss
Everyday I love you more and more
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sings
Telling me to give you everything
Seasons may change winter to spring
But I love you until the end of time
Come what may, come what may
I will love you until my dying day
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste
It all revolves around you
And there's no mountain too high no river too wide
Sing out this song and I'll be there by your side
Storm clouds may gather and stars may collide
But I love you until the end of time
Come what may, come what may
I will love you until my dying day
Oh come what may, come what may
I will love you
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place...
Come what may, come what may
I will love you until my dying day

______________________________The things we talk about :
One of the reasons for lack of gay role models is that 80% of the people who are gay and might well be good role models are not known to be gay. This is one reason for coming out of the closet.....AGAIN. It generally helps all gay people when people can look at a person who is their friend, co-worker family member, etc. and realize that he is no different from anyone else, even though he may be gay. I think the issue facing gays is basically a civil rights issue, and the people in our generation have to have courage. Of course, a lot of gay people have come out of the closet, but lots more haven't. We do need good gay role models. Many straight people offer much to their own kind in the way of being role models. Among our role models are mothers, fathers, teachers, professionals, sisters, brothers, etc. who made positive impressions on us and people in our own circles. We, gay people, could do the same for young gay men and women who are having such a hard time accepting themselves. The first and most important step in that regard is for us to completely accept ourselves as who we are. ( Just an opinion)

TO LOVE SOMEBODY
Lyrics:
|
There's a light, A certain kind of light That's never shone on me I want my life to be, lived with you lived with you There's a way Ev'rybody says To do each and ev'ry little thing But what does it bring If I ain't got you, ain't got faith, baby You don't know what it's like Baby, you don't know what it's like To love somebody To love somebody The way I love you In my brain, I see your face again I know my frame of mind You ain't got to be so blind, and I'm blind So, so, so, blind I'm a man, can't you see what I am I live and breathe for you But what good does it do

NEW YORK (Reuters) Fri Dec 5, 2008 8:48am EST - Employers axed payrolls by a shocking 533,000 in November for the weakest performance in 34 years, government data on Friday showed, as the recession inflicted a mounting toll on the U.S. labor market KEY POINTS: * The Labor Department said the unemployment rate rose to 6.7 percent last month in the highest reading since 1993, compared with 6.5 percent in October, after widespread losses across the country's major industry sectors. * November's job losses were the steepest since December 1974, when 602,000 jobs were shed. * analysts polled by Reuters had predicted a reduction of 340,000 jobs. * October's job losses were revised to show a cut of 320,000, previously reported as a 240,000 loss, while September's losses were revised to a loss of 403,000 from down 284,00. NIGEL GAULT, CHIEF U.S. ECONOMIST, GLOBAL INSIGHT, LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS: "These are horrendous numbers... This is an economy that is in absolute free-fall right now. Confidence has collapsed. "Obviously at the moment we got the employment plunging, and with employment plunging, consumer incomes are plunging and consumer spending is plunging and we just have a very straight downward spiral right now. "Look at the private nonfarm diffusion index, which tells you the breadth of the decline, and that index is down to 27.6... This is something across all major sectors with the possible exception of health. They may have added jobs in health, but it's nothing. "The unemployment rate only went up to 6.7, so that's a tiny, tiny piece of comfort compared to the rest of the numbers, which are just disastrous. "These numbers are so bad, absolutely. They are really horrific and they will massively increase the pressure on the incoming administration to come up with a huge stimulus package." JOHN LONSKI, CHIEF ECONOMIST, MOODY'S INVESTORS SERVICE, NEW YORK: "The losses are so broadly distributed that it would be difficult to argue that any unusual event was responsible for the severity of the decline. "The only positive takeaway would be that the unemployment rate was less than anticipated at 6.7 percent and you did get oddly enough an increase in average weekly earnings thanks to a jump in average hourly earnings. "But on balance it's a very weak report. Hours were down sharply in the month of November, and following a deep decline in October. "All of this warns of a quarter-to-quarter annualized contraction by real GDP by 5 percent if not deeper for the final quarter. "One thing you don't want to overlook is that the labor force today is much greater than it was years ago so in percentage terms it probably may not look as bad as the absolute numbers when making a long historical comparison. But make no mistake about it, it's a very weak employment report and says this is the worst recession since the 1982 recession. "The additional shocking news was the deep downward revision of previous months...That just adds to the shock value of November's much deeper than anticipated loss of more than a half million jobs." DAVID COARD, HEAD, FIXED INCOME SALES AND TRADING, WILLIAMS CAPITAL GROUP, NEW YORK: "That's pretty unbelievable, the change in non-farm payrolls. I'm not quite sure what was going on with the unemployment rate. It can be affected by a number of things. "The non-farm payrolls number tells it all. That's pretty dramatic." STEPHEN STANLEY, CHIEF U.S. ECONOMIST, RBS GREENWICH, GREENWICH, CONN: "It's just a disaster. You've got the biggest job losses in 35 years and on top of that about 200,000 of backward revisions." TOM SOWANICK, CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER, CLEARBROOK FINANCIAL, PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY: "The unemployment data was mixed in that the number of jobs lost was huge, but the earnings were twice what was expected and manufacturing came in better than expected. Overall, the jobs data confirms that the economy shut down during October and November and higher earnings also suggest inflation pressures are real, which is why Treasury bonds are falling.: STEPHEN MALYON, CHIEF CURRENCY STRATEGIST, SCOTIA CAPITAL, TORONTO: "The much weaker-than-expected November result alongside a sharp downward revision to October suggests that the U.S. recession underway is going to be a long one. The U.S. dollar has weakened off, indicating that fundamental gravity might finally be weighing on the currency." CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, NEW YORK: "It's awful. I thought a number at consensus or below would have seen stocks rally and bonds fall. Now I'm not sure how we trade. The street is really very long Treasuries, so it's a toss up there. With regard to the stock market it's not very good. People will have to recalibrate earnings (expectations) lower. For the economy, it's a chain effect. There are less people working, and so less people buying. We're in the holiday season and it means sales will be below expectations. The season will be awful." JEFF KLEINTOP, CHIEF MARKET STRATEGIST, LPL FINANCIAL, BOSTON: "Well these are pretty bad numbers. This will be a real test to see how much bad news is priced into the markets. Futures are down quite a bit, but I actually expected them to be down a lot more given these terrible recessionary numbers. "It might be hard in future months to get numbers that are any worse. It might be good that we raced to some of the worst numbers we've had because perhaps it can't get incrementally worse." JOEL NAROFF, PRESIDENT, NAROFF ECONOMIC ADVISORS, HOLLAND, PENNSYLVANIA: "This is a clear employment blowout. Firms are reacting as dramatically as they can to make sure they have cost structures they can survive the recession we are in." MARKET REACTION: STOCKS: U.S. equity index futures extend slide after worse-than-expected November jobs report. BONDS: U.S. Treasuries spike higher after data. DOLLAR: Dollar falls versus yen.
