| Portland Equal Rights Coalition (PERC on Facebook) | Portland Equality March Saturday, October 24th @ 11:30am Rally and march begins at the South Park Blocks SW Park and Harrison | At noon on October 24th, 2009, Portlanders will gather downtown to march, in solidarity, with Washington DC and the rest of the nation for full LGBTQI equality! Election after election our rights continue to be voted away. Gays continue to be booted from the military. Bashing and harrassment continues to go unabated for our gay youth in schools. Workplace discrimination continues to force some in our community to have to lie about their sexual orientation on the job or face possible harrassment, even termination. Equal Protection Under the Law continues to not apply to members of the LGBTQI community, and in large part, across our nation. As we do recognize the marriage victories in ME, IA, CT, MA, VT, and NH, we need to build on that momentum and ensure full equality across this entire nation. We believe that the time is NOW to break down the walls of hate and discrimination in this country. NOW is the time begin a massive, well-organized Equal Rights Movement! So, tell your friends and family, and join us downtown on October 25th24th at 12pm! |
