I had a friend mention that a local college still had leftover postcards because many of the students were off on break. is this a continuing project? Should we change the wording/mailing address? It seems a shame to only have a narrow window to do this.

Fox news is doing a post card drive to the soldiers overseas. What if we did the same? I have friends and family in combat...they would love a holiday card...from anyone. What do you think?

Honestly? If you decide to do it, please don't do it for publicity purposes. Not even a thought of publicity should be a driving force. I do it every holiday, but it has absolutely nothing to do with PR. I do it just so that they know they are thought about, nothing more. No ulterior motive.
And HMF, yes they KNOW they are fight for ALL of our freedoms. Remember it isn't the service members that put the DADT policy into law, it was Congress and President Clinton, in conjunction with Pentagon officials. Most of those fighting don't care about their brothers sexual orientation. They don't care if they are gay, so long as the person can shoot straight. It is the commanders, and generals etc, that have the problems with homosexuals, but like all older Americans, they are a dying breed. (Not that I wish old people death, it's just a matter of fact).

If you live in a small town that doesn't sell or have those "picture post cards" that you send back from vacation...
CONSIDER SENDING A 4x6 or 5x7 PHOTO of yourself, friends, family just like you would a postcard. Send to President-Elect Obama AND your senators and member of congress -- LET THEM SEE THEIR 2nd class CONSTITUENTS. You can find their names and addresses at www.senate.gov or www.house.gov

I've seen those make your own postcard kits around. It's a postcard sized sheet of cardboard with the standard post card printing on one side. The other side is sticky so you can attach your own picture and mail it as a postcard. Surely Wal-mart carries them.

I've sent out a message to our local group encouraging them to send the postcard to President-Elect Obama (man, I still love typing that!)
I've also asked them to send a similar one to Senators Boxer and Feinstein as well as our Congressman, Mike Thompson. I included their mailing addresses in the email.
