In California:
All I want for Christmas Is my civil rights back, My civil rights back, Just my civil rights back. Gee, if I could only have my civil rights back, then I could get married after Christmas. In other states: All I want for Christmas is e-qual-i-ty or All I want for Christmas are my civil rights |

The Church pulpit has become a political voice, and this defeat of Prop 8 is just the first of many to follow.
This group should consider a more wide reaching agenda. If Churches are able to have a tax exempt status then they should stay out of politics. If they choose to preach to their congregations about Prop 8, fund the fight against Prop 8 with Church donations, it is time they paid their taxes, for they have become a political machine. From Mormons, Catholics, Evangelicals, this will not quit until this critical area is adressed.

Ok...you asked for takes on modern songs, so....I'll start
"We're Equals" To the tune of "Leavin'" by Jesse McCartney They said I can't get married if I'm gay (I'm gay, I'm gay, I'm gay) Yeah, they came and took my civil rights away now (away now, away now, away now) They think that I'll accept it and just let it go (let it go, let it go, let it go) But there is something they should really know I'm gonna tell 'em that CHORUS: We're equals You can't take away my rights And if you try it You'll be in for one big fight No more dictating my life No more closed minds Just give me back my rights (my rights) (Repeat) Uh-oh, oh, oh, oh Uh, oh, oh, oh, oh We just want equality Now maybe we could get together and talk it out And maybe we can even find some common ground No matter what, though, I'll still be standing proud So I'm gonna ask you one time Try to understand I've got to tell you that (CHORUS) Don't Hate Don't Hate Don't Hate Just overturn proposition 8 Don't Hate Don't Hate Don't Hate Just Love Just Love Just Love (Repeat) (CHORUS) |
