Today 11 students, myself included, from The College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME drove 3 hours south to participate in the protest in Portland, ME. It was raining pretty hard most of the way, and during the protest. We got to Portland around 1pm, after leaving campus at 9. There were several stops and some getting lost in there. Had lunch and headed over to monument park. There were maybe 100 people around, many with signs. We joined right in with our signs and cheers, and after a half hour somebody got up to speak. Several people spoke for awhile, including myself. After I finished speaking a reporter from Channel 8 news came up to me and asked me some questions. We protested for about another half hour, at which point we were all soaking wet and wanting to get back to campus. We stopped at a little coffee shop for some awesome coffee, and then headed back. It was fantastic. And I was on the channel 8 news!
