The goals of HeARTS are to provide funding for these community-based groups in Mississippi that: 1) provide financial assistance for those affected by HIV/AIDS 2) increase acceptance and understanding for those affected by HIV/AIDS 3) promote education concerning prevention of HIV/AIDS | | Mississippi Rainbow Alliance |
| | | The mission of the Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition is to ensure that all students have a safe learning environment by protecting students' constitutional rights, ending discrimination, and fostering acceptance through public education. | | National Organization for Women | NOW's purpose is to take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men. This purpose includes, but is not limited to, equal rights and responsibilities in all aspects of citizenship, public service, employment, education, and family life, and it includes freedom from discrimination because of race, ethnic origin, age, marital status, sexual preference/orientation, or parenthood. | | Unity Mississippi | The purpose of Unity Mississippi is to establish and promote unity among the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) and Heterosexual communities by serving as the catalyst for statewide education, interaction, entertainment, community growth, visibility and awareness. Unity Mississippi is dedicated to promoting tolerance and acceptance of sexual minorities, increasing public awareness of minority-related concerns, health-related concerns (specifically HIV/AIDS and substance abuse), and bridging the gap between the heterosexual and GLBT communities in the State of Mississippi. | | USM Gay Straight Alliance | The goals and purposes of this organization are as follows: 1. To provide a supportive, safe social setting for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender persons and their friends and supporters, as well as any other interested parties recognizing sexual diversity on the Southern Miss campus. 2. To provide educational resources to the college and community regarding issues of sexual diversity. 3. To provide a vehicle of social and political action in regards to issues of sexual diversity on a local, state, national and international level. 4.
