Bring homemade protest signs and accessories. Buy products (yard signs, bumper stickers, banners, etc.) and donate to the 'California Marriage Equality Act' ballot campaign. Have refreshments: Bottled water, snacks, etc. Remember: Please be respectful and civil with people who may disagree with you. Have police authorities with you during the protest/rally. This is to help keep civility and stability. | California has a huge diverse population and its up to this ballot initiative campaign to reach out and speak up for the Golden State's diversity. What can you do to support marriage equality NOW? Speak to at least three people you know whether it be a friend, relative, or acquaintance from California. Keep up the conversation for months and don't give up. Please note that this event is just a plan. Grassroots protests and rallies won't begin probably until the start of the 2010 Gubernatorial Election, which is next year. | LIGHT UP THE NIGHT FOR EQUALITY | DECEMBER 20, 2008 | 5PM WHAT IS IT? On December 20th, we ask that you join us again for a nation-wide demonstration that will make an impact on the private sector. Candlelight vigils will be held at commercial centers in cities across the country in remembrance of the rights that once were for 18,000 marriages, and in honor of the rights that one day will be again - for EVERYONE.

Imagine how that would look from the sky!! We will be welcome at the Lake Merritt Hotel / Barbary Lane "Terrace Room" for warm beverages and restrooms.... FOOD & GIFT DRIVE INFO: Where: Oakland's "Barbary Lane" at the Lake Merritt Hotel, 1800 Madison Street, (at Lakeside) Right across from Lake Merritt and across the lake / down the street from the new Catholic "Cathedral of Light" on Harrison Street... When: Now till 12/20 - Donations can be dropped or delivered (via UPS, etc) weekdays 7 am to 7 pm, Sat - Sun 10 - 2. 12/20: Final Day drop in holiday open house, 3:30 - 5:30, with hot cider, hot chocolate, coffee....bring the whole family and join the fun! There will be fun activities for kids, as well as adults so come on over! $10 coupon toward a meal at the lovely Barbary Lane Terrace Room restaurant for everyone who donates! | |||

Am I reading correctly that the vigil is going to be at city hall in Livermore? Not a very populated area. Downtown by the flag pole might be a better place for Livermore if it is allowed. My daughter can spread word at LHS, just let us know.
