Because no couple in a consensual committed relationship should be denied a marriage license, or the 1138 right which the government assigns to it, same-sex couples wishing to get married and those who support equal marriage rights are invited to show their support for the Freedom to Marry!

A same-sex couple will apply, and be turned down, for a Marriage License at the office of the County Clerk at noon. Immediately following this denial there will be a small peaceful rally in support of the couple, and every same-sex couple, who are denied the Freedom to Marry.

El Presidio Park:
(115 North Church St., on the Plaza in front of City Hall)

We will officially launch FAMILIES YOU KNOW at Friday's event.

The FAMILIES YOU KNOW campaign will feature your families, in which one or more members is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or a straight ally, families where children, siblings, parents, grandparents, and friends are loved, respected, cared for, and nurtured.

Why? Because the narrow definition of "family" espoused by Prop 102 supporters hurts everyone.
We know that families come in many forms, but what defines them is an unbreakable bond of trust, respect, and concern for each other's well being.
  • 5pm: Assemble at El Presidio Park
  • 5:30pm: March to La Placita steps off
  • 6:30pm: Official Presentation for Launch of FAMILIES YOU KNOW at La Placita Village (map). Parking available across from El Presidio Park and across from La Placita Village. Free after 5pm.
Cheer on the families in the first videos to be premiered that night! Bring your family to have your FAMILIES YOU KNOW video produced!

Now is the time for our community and allies to come together in mutual support, honoring the anger and disappointment we feel about the passage of Prop 102, and to heal.

Even more importantly, we need to channel our feelings, strengths and energy into a positive force for social change.

Key to this effort is Wingspan's FAMILIES YOU KNOW campaign, a video, photography and storytelling project that empowers you to change hearts and minds through sharing your family stories.

You and your family are not just talking about "values," you're living them - balancing work and soccer practice, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, sharing joys and sorrows.
With your help, we will raise awareness, confront prejudice, and begin a conversation in the community where all families are respected, valued, and not exploited for short-term political gain.
You can learn more about FAMILIES YOU KNOW and watch the first video here.

Our plans and vision are to set into motion a new proposition for the introduction of Civil Partnerships in the State of Arizona, it’s all about Equal Rights for same sex couples. Please tell us how you feel about this. Please keep in mind that we are focused on Equal Rights not the Word gay marriage.

I will be there. I can hand out flyers at this UofA event : "UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA STUDENTS AND STAFF HOLD A CELEBRATION-STOP THE HATE & CELEBRATE: YES WE DID!

Attendess Highlight the Needs for Reform for the Arizona Wildcat and Celebrate
the Election of Barack Obama to the Presidency of the United States

TUCSON, AZ- University of Arizona students, faculty, and staff will be gathering
on the UA mall on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. to attend the
Stop the Hate & Celebrate: Yes We Did! celebration. Organized by students
and staff at UA, this event was created for individuals who feel that it is
important to celebrate the election, which was overshadowed last Wednesday by
the comic printed in the Arizona Daily Wildcat."

This celebrarion is a response to a racist comic that was run the day after the election; it could be a good place to get the word out
