The National March for Equality is a big, bold political action in support of LGBT civil rights planned for April 18, 2010 in Washington DC. The March is a community-based grassroots-driven initiative of the National Network for Equality, a coalition to produce and promote activities to engage a new era of LGBT advocates—including those who may have never participated in political activism.

Day of decision protest. If Prop 8 does not get turned around there will be a loud, noisy, obnoxious protest in Saint Petersburg starting within one hour of the decision announcement. The protest will start on Central Ave at Beach Drive Downtown St. Pete and the march and madness will continue West on Central to 31st Street and end at Georgie's Alibi.
Those who want to really make a difference and quit the peaceful-get-ya-nowhere protest should contact me to confirm that you will attend. Oh and, please make the most obnoxious sign that you can think of to get your point across. I am tired of laying down peaceful and I hope that there are others out there like me that are ready to stand loud and proud and make a difference. Thanks, Larry Smith Fired Up Gays! 727-388-2601

| meighan.doherty | Repeal Prop 8/Amendment 2 PRIDE Contingent | 0 | Apr 7 2009, 6:18 PM EDT by meighan.doherty | ||||

My name is Meighan and I am a long time activist here in the city of Seattle. Last year we saw two amazing things happen – the election of President Barack Obama and the passage of Proposition 8 and Amendment 2. Both changed the direction in which our country is going, both for the better and for the worse. After the passage of Proposition 8 and Amendment 2 we saw a huge number of people organize themselves very quickly and stage counter protests to voice their opposition to the legalization of bigotry and bias. Seattle saw a huge turnout at their No on Prop 8 rally last fall. These events made a statement that was heard nationwide: the legalization of hatred will not be tolerated.
PRIDE is coming up on June 28th. What an amazing opportunity it can be to get your message out to the masses – whatever that message may be for you. This year is no different. The theme of this year’s PRIDE is Love, Peace and Equality. What better opportunity to continue to momentum that the passage of Proposition 8 and Amendment 2 started than by participating as a Repeal Proposition 8 contingent in the PRIDE celebration? We all have a vested interest in winning our equal rights for a myriad of reasons. But we cannot win in spirit alone. It takes organization, visibility, vocalization and work to make a substantial change happen in the world. No one person can do it alone but in working together for a common purpose we can, and have, seen amazing change for the better. I hope that your enthusiasm from last year can continue into this year. The fight is far from over but victory is very near. I am hosting an informative planning meeting on Wednesday, April 22nd at 7:30pm at Café Vita on Broadway (1005 East Pike Street, on Capitol Hill near the new location of the Cha Cha and one block up the hill from Neumos). Please let me know if you can attend. We can repeal Proposition 8 and Amendment 2. We can defeat bigotry. We can legalize love.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Impact-Florida will hold a peaceful and respectful demonstration and candlelight vigil outside of Florida Governor Charlie Crist and Carole Rome's wedding and reception.
Governor Crist first stated he believed in a "Live and Let Live" attitude when speaking about Amendment 2. However, he then became an outspoken proponent of Amendment 2, which passed by a margin of only 1.9%. The vague and ambiguous wording of this amendment could go much further than promised. It could adversely effect domestic partners benefits of both heterosexual and gay Floridians. DATE: December 12, 2008 PHASE #1: Demonstration Outside Wedding Ceremony TIME: 6 P.M. (Although the Wedding is planned for 7 P.M. Participants are asked to arrive no latter than 6:00 P.M..) Directions/Map: http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Saint+Petersburg&state=FL&address=330+2nd+Ave+N&zipcode=33701 Following Wedding Ceremony, participants will walk silently to second location. I know...I sound like a broken record...but the only real oppisition we have gotten in SC came from people saying "why fight prop 8 when bigger issues are effecting us." The Economy is the #1 problem we face right now.
THE LBGT COMMUNITY CAN PREVENT A BACKLASH BE GETTING INVOLVED WITH THE FIGHT FOR OUR ECONOMIC FUTURE! In the 60's the social fight was fought on 2 fronts...civil rights and anti-war. This movment is bigger than this one civil rights issue...it HAS to involve the fight to control not only our FAMILIES future but also our FINANCIAL future. Join www.nobailout.wetpaint.com and diversify the impact! Gay, Str8, Black, White...the economy affects EVERYONE. How great would it be if the GLBT community takes the stearing wheel on this issue as well.

Hi All, We are trying to get the word out about the murder of Moses "Teish" Cannon last Friday night, November 14. Moses "Teish" Cannon was openly gay, and his family said today that is why he was shot and killed. His death should be treated as a hate crime, they said.
We will be having a candle light vigil in West Hollywood for Teish Cannon on Sunday, November 23rd at 5 PM. We are asking that other communities join us to honor his memory and call for an end to violence against the LGBT community. For more details, go to http://www.noon8campaign.org/content/gay-syracuse-man-moses-teish-cannon-shot-and-killed-friday-november-14th Thanks David noon8campaign.org

You need to add a page that...
1) Explains the diffrence between Civil Unions and Marriages under the law. 2) Put the famous Bible quote in historical perspective as well as the ideology of the author. Note that Jesus only considered devorce a sin and Adultry a sin. That's it. 3) The sepration of Church and State and why the Imposing the Christian Definition of Marriage on the state violates that. 4) define the oragins of marriage. 5) Stress that this is not a Cali. issue. Here in SC we passed Amendment #1...It took away commonlaw that was written in our constitution as gender netural. That also effects the Str8 community. Stress that also! How certian members of the majority are losing rights so these people can opress the minority. That will ruffle some feathers! In other words, a page...front and center on you Home Page, shooting down each argument against JTI's mission. This information will help to sway the "majority." The trick is getting them to Google you. I have already perposed an idea for that...look below. And to Clarify...www.nobailout.wetpaint.com is a site dedicated to STOPING the CURRENT Bailout plan that was halted yeaterday after $350 Billion was spent because our Gov. was the LAST to realize it would not work. I am for using my money to fix this mess...as long as it gets fixed. Only with energy like this can we acheive a brighter future. I hope I can channel yours! I have given Bastian (my co-organizor) most of work load on this issue so I can consentrate on the bailout. I will still be helping and shooting ideas...just not as much. With Solidarity, Evvie

Hi ...
I'm not seeing this event posted. Please spread the word! Thank you very much... Tonya VanWagner EVENT DETAILS TAKE IT TO SACRAMENTO ON NOVEMBER 22ND! With the unfortunate outcome of the recent passage of Proposition 8, the GLBT community has united in a presence that we have not seen since the early 1980’s and the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It is with great respect that California Outreach, in partnership with Equality Action Now, humbly asks you to join GLBT individuals and organizations, PFLAG and our straight brothers and sisters at a peaceful outreach on the steps of the California State Capitol Building at 2:00pm on November 22nd. Please join us as we reach out to all the citizens of California to demonstrate that we will not tolerate discrimination to be written into our State Constitution. Hi... Please share this information with everyone you know or any lists that you are on... Who: Anyone and everyone. Where: California State Capitol Building, Sacramento, CA When: 11/22/08 2:00PM Why: Equal Rights are inalienable and CANNOT be taken away. In 1987 the largest rally for gay rights in Sacramento took place, counting 15,000 strong. We need to stand together and make a statement that we will not stand idly by and let the rights of our sons, daughters, parents, and friends be taken away. Twenty one years later — 30,000 strong. Are YOU ready to make history? The success of this event depends upon getting the word out. Invite your friends! |

We have another HUGE problem in America...BAIL OUTS! They are not going to work. Over 200 economests (and rising) are telling congress it wont work but they will bot stop throwing money at the corperations. If we use this esablished network to jump on this we will accomplish 2 things...
1) We will stop the Gov. from spending OUR money on a bad bail out package. 2) This issue is on EVERY Americans mind. If we protest this together the Prop 8 Supporters will be forced to get to know the gay community. Once you have "humanized" a group you see as diffrent, it is harder to justify discimination. Note: I am NOT saying to stop protesting prop 8...I'm just saying what good is a family if you have no $ to support it. This is a time for change period, not just social change. If we are not carful, the prop 8 issue will distract us from the most immediate and global issue...the crashing economy. Again, What good is marriage going to do any of us it we are thrown into another great depression? ANd make no mistake...that is where we are going...even Obama has the WRONG idea on this issue! P.S. If the bail out $ was given to the American people, every man, woman, and child would have recieved $150,000! That would have stoped the housing crisis, kept the big 3 going, and stimulated the economy. |

We need to rally again in even larger numbers. We can do this with more planning time!!! The energy is still alive and the grassroot organizers are in place. Lets organize again and add even more cities!!! It's especially important to do the protest again because the SoCal fires stole our thunder here. We need to stay current, mobilized and positive!!!!

I say we plan another National Protest for Saturday December 6th. This will give us smaller, Southern states longer to get our permits (laws here suck for getting permits) and time to build our #'s. We got 300 people together in Charleston, SC in 6 days. If we had 3 weeks, I know we could get at LEAST 1,000. Also, the Holy City loved us! Drivers were honking. Some parked and joined us. Padestrians clapped for us and joind in. Buisness owners gave us the thumbs up. SC passed a similar amendment 2 years ago. We need this as bad as you do, these amendments are also hurting the straight community...common law marriage no longer exists. So many straight couples dont want to get "married" but would still like to see loved ones in hospitals. Many SC voters that voted for Amendment 1 regret it now. Change is now but if we quit the national protest, join the impact will begin to loose states.
