Manhunt sucks, don't worry about that slut site. They don't lift a finger, either, in any meaningful way to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS. Its owned by a pair of fat old Boston fags who want only to squeeze gay dollars, life like plutocrats, and return absolutely nothing in return. They're a waste of your more precious time, believe me. 5  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

Your post brings up a really important topic that needs to be discussed further. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I sent them an email asking what their reasons are for taking such action and if they are a gay owned business.
I also told them that a non response to my email is unacceptable and I would then assume they could care less about the gay community other then making a quick buck. I will post the information if they reply back.

They replied within a few minutes but it appears to be a standard form letter. Here it is and everyone can make up their own minds. Personally I would have liked to have seen a more detailed answer to my questions and wonder how much support they gave to No on 8.
I'm not saying that every gay owned business has to support gay causes but there are certain important situations that do require an expalation from a gay business that make lots of money off of the gay community.
If we are going to hold other businesses accountable for their support of prop 8 then we MUST do the same for gay and gay owned businesses.

I kicked MH out of my life after I complained of their obliging attitudes toward racist undertone in many members' profiles. Their reply was polite, but basically they couldn't care less. I closed my account with them after being satisfied with their answer. MH does suck! I'm taking my slutting (and money) to some other site! :) 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Goombah, you got the same answer Manhunt replies with for everything, it seems. Its just notign but boilerplate and has nothing meaningful in it at all.

MANHUNT exists soley to enrich its two fat old Bsoston fag owners, who explot the gay community like bar owners of old who didn't care if they made alcoholics out of gay men as long as their bar's profits just rolled in.

Forget sites like MANHUNT, they're users and little else, and are precisely the sort of sexually-complusive thing that our detractors point to when they want to defeat equal righrs for GLBT people. The success of sites like MANHUNT equals success for people like the Mormons and the hateful Roman Catholic cleric who brought the LDS into the California proposition question in the first place.

Treat them all like the pariahs they deserve to be and try to make us out to be.

This has been very enlightening and I will NOT give another penny to Manhunt and from this point on will ask questions about where my money is going and how I can effectively help Gay and gay friendly companies. I really appreciate the discussion on this thread concerning this and will add this information to my own personal blog for others. Thanks everyone.

There are businesses that exist solely on glbt dollars and clients , but of course they do not support glbt in silence. These kind of businesses are very 2 faced...

If you look around in your area locally you'll find more businesses like this. But you have to be open to the idea that they exist, or you will fall for the con-job they pull over your eyes every time.

It is UNfortunate folks dont realize this ...

Dude, I get that you hate the site, but THIS SITE is about fighting discrimination, so why you would use the word "fags" is beyond me. It's not right that black people can use the n-word and others can't so we shouldn't create that same double standard.

I was reminded yesterday (at the WeHo Town Hall) that so many gay-oriented businesses in West Hollywood that rake in the pink dollars refused to support even the most meager anti-Prop 8 efforts. It's too bad I'm long past hitting the bars and such, or I'd boycott these places. I understand the profit motive, but if they want gay $$, their opposition to our civil rights should cost them those dollars.

Time to add MH to the haters/boycott list (pfft, if they weren't there already).

"Marriage is bad for business. They perpetuate the old way of being gay, in the closet and sleeping around."
Being closeted and sleeping around is still done. Being monogamous while in a gay relationship is not new. Monogamy doesn't work for everyone. Let's not judge.

I'm really surprised at the moralizing that goes on here at times. While we are demanding the right to live our lives as we please, including the right to marry, we criticize those that choose to "sleep around". I don't care if some people choose to have multiple partners as long as they do it safely.

"the owner giving money to the McCain presidential campaign"
MANHUNT is a for-profit social network business that facilitates gay men to network. Member's exchanging info on the community rally in the area, using emailing within their firewall is absolutely compliant to their privacy policy. It still doesn't make sense they kicked off the member for communicating a JTI rally in his local community.

What makes sense to me is it's done by the same gay business owner who donates a part of the networking site's profit to McCain campaign. We may have an ethical responsibility to let consumers know the MANHUNT's business decision on the community rally communication in their emails, just like when Disney discriminates us, we inform the media regardless of whether we like their product, or not.

We should all definitely do something about this. I believe, that the patrons of "Manhunt" are so immersed in their sexual endeavors, that they can't connect (or don't care too) with the discrimination all around them! And we do recall, that one of the owners contributed $2,300 to the John McCain campaign!

So for all of you who think you are taking the moral high ground here i have a question. Who here likes SPAM? Because that is exactly why this man did, and it is most likely why he was kicked off. Regardless of what he is sending, the fact is that he was sending mass messages to people who did not solicit the information. The site is not focused around activism. You would have been much better off on a chat like gay.com to promote the rally rather than sending people SPAM. I'm sure that when you created the account and accepted the terms it included not sending spam. You broke the agreement and were kicked off the site. Should you be surprised? No. Should you have though you were exempt from the rule because of what the message said? No. So get off your high horse and realize that even a gay site has rules, and a gay agenda doesn't supersede those rules. You broke them and were kicked off. They were not slamming your rally, I'm quite sure of it.

Also, how about next time you send them an email about the event first. See if maybe they will send out a manhuntevent email in place of your illegal SPAM?
