Here is TOM GREENE's speech.. in entirely: It was WONDERFUL: Note may need more than one note: My computer won't start page.

People around the country and the world are gathering and standing together- today We're here to join them in this collective moment (e.g. 1:30 PM there) in a moment of silence. To remember the passage of Proposition 8 in California and to say.. our thoughts and praryers are with those who lost homes and loved ones last night during the devastating storms in our state.

Moment of Silence for Both.

Thank you.

We gather here today in this Peaceful Rally for Love, for Fairness, and for Justice.
to send a message to North Carolina that this rally is more than just rebuke of the passage of Proposition 8 in California. We gather not ONLY for the people of California who lost their Right to marry or the setbacks in Arizona, Arkansas, and Florida.
But to stand together in North Carolina..(Cheers) (to say our time has come for equality in our state,) No more no less.

As a gay man I want to thank you for your dedication to this cause of Equality and Justice. My name is Tom Greene, one of co-organizers along with Will Elliot and John Visser, (cheers) We welcome you to our States Capitol the seat of Government where we are going to send our message loud and clear to our state and nation:
That the time for injustice is over. I want to welcome you as my friends, my brothers and sisters, in the fight for freedom. Today we stand together as the proud members of the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender and Queer community with our Allies, shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand, and say as one people, with ONE voice, on ONE accord that
DISCRIMINATION AGAINST US MUST END NOW. Not two or four years in the future but now, this day, this time.

Part 2:
We are tired of separate but Unequal, we are tired of our lives being propositions, and the disappointment of being denied our equal and God given rights, we are tired of fgiving our creative contributions for this society, and in return being told over and over again. 'you must sit down', you must shut up and deal with your second-class citizenship.!(cheers.) No longer will we be quiet, no longer will we sit on the sidelines, no longer will we ask for permission to love, permission to be treated equally, enough is enough. Today we say NO MORE. As full taxpaying citizens, we ask for no more or no less. It is our time to demand our equality under the law.

You know as a social studies teacher, I cannot stand in front of the the students in my classroom and say that our government believes that all men and all women are created equal. I cannot say that with sincerity. Because you know why...as the old saying in North Carolina goes 'ACTIONS Speak Louder than Words. '

After the events of the past few days,... seeing the results from the elections roll in from Arkansas, Arizona and Florida and of course from California. Seeing the setbacks and glaring inequalities that we face, this is more than a Protest against Prop 8, it is a rally or battle cry, if you will, to our community, our state our nation to stand with us, to speak with us, to organize, to move, to protest with us as a Unified Movement for our Equal and Unalienable Rights of Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. (Cheers)

This is one of many protests to come, so I hope you are ready, and we promise you that this is the NEW CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, and we ask you to join with us in our sustained call for freedom. (Cheers)

AND Then ad lib:
To tell you the truth, these are things I wrote out, but the base of it, the real reason besides all the things I just said, the real reason I am here is for this man standing in front of me, the man that I love and I cherish, and that someone is going to tell me I cannot marry. We're still going to get married, it's just a matter of whether this government will recognize it. We will,we will (cheers)
