If you're lucky enough to be able to take the day off on "Day Without a Gay" - What are you planning on doing? Any ideas on where to volunteer? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I've already signed up to spend the day with Meals on wheels, I'm helping to deliver nutritios lunches to the elderly. My rainbow t-shirt is already washed and placed on the back of my door ready to go. I'm pretty excited about it. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

The logo (in Photos) is wonderful. But I must admit I am deeply conflicted about taking off the day Gay. I work in healthcare. My entire career is service to others. I can't think of anything I could do December 10th that would be of greater benefit to humanity than what I do every day for hurting, frightened, and often lonely people.

I'm frustrated about this.

I also work in healthcare, a children's hospital...but I have already made arrangements to take the day off and my colleagues are happy to help me do so! We just have to keep participating in these gatherings and protests. We need to show our numbers, doing nothing is just that...doing nothing. Do you find this valuable?

One issue about DECEMBER 10th though is MANY college students have finals that week. To all the college students who this falls into GO TAKE YOUR FINALS. However, don't spend any money and spend the rest of the day at home.

Second, suggestion maybe people can have a Lock-in party and just enjoy the time as a community. (Buy everything the day before needed for a party)

I agree. For health professionals that want to stay at work, just try to do something simple and creative like wear a "I Support Marriage Equality" wristband or have a rainbow-styled accessory on your scrubs. Something like that, and try to have conversations about marriage rights and LGBT equality with your friends and patients. Visit this link:

For college students, yes, just take your final exams. or if your lucky, some college students may feel free to take there exam a day before. Depending on your instructor. Or better yet just have a conversation with a friend or classmate about marriage rights and LGBT equality, here is the link again:

This all goes for anyone else that may not be able to do the "Day without a Gay" event. Good luck with the free conversations!

My husband and I are hosting a "Greeting Card Party" to write Holiday Card to our troops overseas. The event is sponsored by the Red Cross and the last day to send cards is December 10th. Just seemed like a fitting way to spread the love while accomidating all our friends and those who were not able to find volunteer opportunities in the community. It also keeps us from being out and about spending money on our "Day off." 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
