Candlelight Vigil for In Memory of Moses "Teish" Cannon

Hi All, We are trying to get the word out about the murder of Moses "Teish" Cannon last Friday night, November 14. Moses "Teish" Cannon was openly gay, and his family said today that is why he was shot and killed. His death should be treated as a hate crime, they said.

We will be having a candle light vigil in West Hollywood for Teish Cannon on Sunday, November 23rd at 5 PM. We are asking that other communities join us to honor his memory and call for an end to violence against the LGBT community.

I hope when Obama becomes President he will enact civil rights for LGBT people - which includes his priority of passing the Matthew Shepard Act - it truely is time for a change.

Peace.

That is wonderful and thoughful to honor him. I hope we get some NEWS coverage on it. We're in the entertainment capital and a huge percent of gays run the media. Do you find this valuable?

I've heard she was actually a heterosexually-oriented transgender woman, not a "gay man" - If so, she'd probably want the gender pronouns corrected...

In any case, this is a horrible crime. :(

Hi, Yes, you are correct. The first reports we received were that Teish was a gay man, but we now know that she was transitioning. I spoke to Teish's mother tonight and she said that Teish was a loving, compassionate person all her life and had to deal with being taunted and beaten up for years. I had a difficult time speaking with Teish's mother, but she seemed really appreciative of what we are doing. She is going to send me some photos of her tomorrow. 3  out of 3 found this valuable.
