Get Those Postcards Out!
Nov 22 2008, 8:04 PM EST | Post edited: Nov 22 2008, 8:04 PM EST
There's only three days left to mail out your postcards - monday, tuesday, and wednesday. So we've gotta move people.

Currently, there are only 38 photos of people with their postcards in the album. Granted, not everyone has a digital camera but I know there's more than 38 of us. I'll be posting our picture tomorrow and I hope to see a lot more.

This is the simplest of projects. I haven't purchased a postcard since I was 10 so I wasn't sure where to find some. My suggestion: check at your local hallmark or other card stores for local postcards. It cost me a mere $1.25 for 3. So I picked up a whole bunch and I plan on taking some with me to work to have my co-workers participate. Hopefully they'll let me take their pictures too!

I hope more people get on the ball with this one because it really could have a big impact. Lets make sure President-elect Obama knows that we're still here!

Also check your local drug stores for postcards with pictures of your hometown. We have them in each Bartell's (Washington) for 50 cents. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Just wanted to clue everyone in on spreading this message.

I know that not everyone can throw a "Postcard Party" but if you're not in any danger of losing your job over this I would definitely suggest bringing some postcards with you to work and asking co-workers to join the impact.

I brought a handful of postcards with me last night and asked people that I thought might be open to the idea "do you support marriage equality?" If they responded "yes" I would ask them if they'd be willing to write a quick message and I'd take care of the rest. A common response I got was "I definitely support marriage for all. I'm just not that much of an activist." So, here's our chance to give a helping hand - a little nudge, if you will. A lot of people are willing to take a stand but they need a little help.

Lets face it. Not everyone that supports us has a go get'em attitude like many of us on here. So, it can't hurt if we help these people by getting the postcards and postage for them. Just have them fill it out and you can drop it in the mailbox for them. They may even be willing to strick a pose with their postcard for a photo to post in the gallery...

I took postcards to work and asked people that I know support gay rights if they wanted one. I put on postage and addressed them to make it easy. I bought them at the post office. They have SuperHero postcards. Everyone loved them and had a great time picking out their favorite super hero. We mailed 40 cards. Do you find this valuable?

Well, I'm more motivated now. No postcards for me, I could only look once, so instead a set of blank cards.

Even someone like me can make a difference. I wrote one for repealing DA-DT. So Obama promised to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act? Well who am I to argue with that! One for repealing DOMA. And one for stopping hate crimes. I'm taking tomorrow for lunch to buy some stamps and mail them.

Just sent out about several more postcards! One for President-elect Obama and several to the many offices of my state senators and congressman.

Hope everyone got a chance to at least send out one!
