Please remove the past events with maps
Nov 30 2008, 9:34 PM EST
The site crawls as it loads all the old information. It is also confusing as a current title displays with an old event. I am trying to read and share information and this really slows it down. This is just a please. I know people can take such suggestions badly. Shield up for the flames. :) 0 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Hi, since this is a wiki, if you're looking at your city and you think there are pictures or other content that is slowing down the page then delete them, or move them to a more appropriate location on the site. This is YOUR site and you can do some housecleaning anytime :-)

Hope you don't mind... I removed two outdated map widgets from the LB page to help is load more quickly.

Also, it may be the map widgets that are slowing things down...feel free to remove them, but please keep the locations and dates of previous events so we have a record of them. MB

The entire site is very slow in general. So I guess my suggestion is that people are encouraged to remove their old links. I understand the history concept, but I wonder if that will continue to work if most of what is loading, soon 95% or more, is old content.Maybe it is wetpaint that is slow. I know when making sites from scratch, I avoid extra stuff and try to keep each page to one simple purpose. Graphics need to be sized down to display. A common mistake is displaying images at a resolution higher than can be used on a site, meaning the pc itself will be lowering the resolution, so the extra pixels just take lots of time to process and do not add to the image. Well, I am no expert. I just want the site to run quick for a primary purpose, getting people to the next event. I sure do not want to be site police, deleting anything from anyone else. (but I am glad someone else stepped in to do that on this one link) I am clicking on every city link in California to find all sites with Dec 20 events to post those links to their local gay groups, so this slows me on all links. Best of luck to all. :) 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
