Targeting Pepsi Now
Jan 8 2009, 9:16 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 8 2009, 9:16 PM EST
Pepsi is now the target of AFA .
Pespi received the 2008 New Freedom Initiative Award for enhancing participation of Americans with Disabilities in the 21st Century Workforce, and PepsiCo received a 100% rating for the fifth year in a row from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation today when it released its 2009 Corporate Equality Index.
Pepsi is also a leader in stoping the spread of HIV/AIDS. From their website; "Our policy outlines an approach that will be applied across the diverse array of markets in which we operate – from South Africa, where we have made very important strides, including establishment of a comprehensive HIV/AIDS testing and treatment program, to the scores of other countries in which we are still in the early stages of addressing the problem."
From AFA's website
"PepsiCo has refused a request by AFA to remain neutral in the culture war. The company indicated that it will continue major financial support of homosexual organizations. AFA wrote Pepsi two times (on October 14 and October 29) requesting a meeting to discuss Pepsi's neutrality in the culture war. [basically Pepsi told AFA they weren't changing any of their policies, nor would they meet with the hate group]
In the last two years, Pepsi has given $500,000 to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and $500,000 to the Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). The $1,000,000 was to be used to help promote homosexuality in the workplace. Pepsi refuses to give money to any pro-family organization that opposes the homosexual agenda. Plus, every homosexual organization we know of is overwhelmingly pro-abortion.
Pepsi forces all employees to attend sexual orientation and gender identity diversity training where they are taught to accept homosexuality." [Let's talk about what force really is...AFA and it's supporters force people into "Ex-Gay" therapy!!!!! HELLO??]

This makes me feel a lot better about buying large amounts of Pepsi products. I think I'm going to send the company a supportive letter now. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

I don't drink soda but if I did it's be "Pepsi please!"

And if I liked Rum and Coke I'd switch to Pepsi and Coke ;-) I'd suggest our LGBT bars do the same

Well, there's always chips. I think Pepsi own Frito Lay. I sent Pepsi an email of support earlier - regrettably I advised them I was a recovering Coke addict so they may not take me too seriously.

I don't see any direct emails for PepsiCo (the corporation, yes they do own Frito Lay too :D) here - http://pepsico.com/Contacts.aspx - but they do have email forms on the individual product sites, mostly for questions, but I don't think they'd mind getting compliments. Corporate has business mail addresses and telephone numbers though. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

ack.. she did say email - I don't know how I read phone, must have been from the "give a call..." Too much reading today I suppose. I used the email form.

Has anyone else noticed Pepsi changed their logo? Up until learning of their contributions, I didn't like the new look. Now I think it's gorgeous.

I LOVE the new Pepsi look.. The old logo was nice and classic but the new one feels more updated without being too drastically different.

And I wasn't correcting your post, I think we made them at the same time, lol. But the site does have phone numbers! :D

I'm not big on cola but I like those twisty fritos so I'll support them there. By the way, if you haven't tried those twisty fritos, I suggest you do. They taste better when they're twisty for some reason. Better crunch. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Pepsi's become more expensive lately.

My impression from your post TruthandLove was that PepsiCo is trying to be proactive in promoting the right to dignity in the workplace for all its employees, and is also concerned about promoting that better world for its employees in all areas. Either that or a lot of gay customers wrote to it (which I think I may have heard about). Any such attempt is going to be imperfect.

There are plenty of conservative organizations--mostly local charities and service providers--that do good work without being catty about being pro-life or having a narrow definition of family. The AFA is not one of them and I wouldn't trust them to provide a list of them.

This is a link to PepsiCo's page about its corporate contributions, which includes a link to it's 2007 contributions. You can draw your own conclusions from there.

Pepsi sales will increase on my end. I love Mt. Dew and will drink more of it now. Does anyone listen to AFA anyway? I think we should. If AFA boycotts a company then we should give them business. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Yeah... PepsiCo received a 100% rating by the HRC 5 years running... Coca-Cola also received a 100% rating by the HRC along with 259 Companies, or over 9,000,000 employees !!! Keep it up America, you're doing great.....

When it comes to the AFA discrimination even finds itself in their choice of beverage
