On November 4, 2008, after four anti-gay initiatives were passed, instead of retreating into the closet or giving up, the gay community and straight allies came together, using innovative on-line technology outside the structure of any single organization, and staged over 300 rallies nationwide involving hundreds of thousands of people who stood for equality and fairness.
