"I'm tired of being classified with the left, and I'm tired of the right wing. Why are you tired of being classified with the left? Is the Ethics Wing exclusive to people who are classified as left wing, or are all people welcome? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well the idea is basically everything is revolved around ethics, no religion involved, no following the words of others simply based on party status, no more ludicrous "playing politics" to gain positions. So can a religious person be part of it? Of course... but they'd have to be quite ethical, and I don't mean religiously ethical. Everyone would have to take some kind of ethical oath? To uphold ethics above personal desires, religion, friends, etc.So in other words, if you see something corrupt, you just don't let it slip by cause that person is your friend? o.O It's just an on going idea x3 Or does it sound ludicrous? 1 out of 2 found this valuable. I am concerned that you may be falling into the trap of confusing religion with the religious right, evangelical religious right, or however you want to define it. Also, thinking more about your idea, it will be necessary to define what is ethics and what are the origins of ethical principles. Religion is a big one. Do you find this valuable? |

While I do generally agree with the left wing, I know that politics change far too often to try and take a direction and hold it. I don't like politics in general, but the only reason I pay attention to them is because while I don't like them, I realize that I am affected by them. So, I stay informed. I create opinions and arguments. I don't like having to do so, but I do it nonetheless.

I consider myself on the moderate wing. You know, my father once said that someday, there will be a third major political party in this country. Perhaps so. If there is, I hope it's a moderate political party.

Years ago I was a very right wing Republican - moral majority Fundamentalist Christian type (don’t shoot! – I have repented)! But now I am what I would call a Hillary Clinton Democrat and I am part of a very liberal, activist, Congregationalist UCC Church in Riverside California - still very much a Christian and in the middle in my personal ethos, but not exactly comfortable with the "religious left" either. I stay here because at least these on the religious left are actually doing a lot for equality (and the Pastor is so very eloquent and on the whole it feels like a family). I am transgender too, in the middle of the process of turning the old man into a new woman. In these and so many other areas in my life I have felt the pinch of being squeezed either into some pigeon hole on the left or the right or squeezed in between them because I don't fit any of them - be they political, religious or social. Being one of the neutral, silent ones does not fit either. I can’t call myself a moderate activist – not very well anyway, it is almost an Oxymoron – but I can call myself an activist for ethics on all levels.I am an activist for equality for all humans and for Faith without Prejudice and I actively urge marginalized people to take a little risk get out and be a part of society because that is the only way any one gets recognized as a serious player and it is the first step out of the margin. I push this theme often on my blog http://livingtransgender.blogspot.com too. Like Harvey Milk said when they know us they vote 2 to 1 for our causes. If one wants to be credible and truly make changes for the better in the world then the only viable foundation is ethics. It’s the only common thread across all these left-wing/right-wing groupings regardless of ideology. Therefore I conclude that an "ethics" party is the only one that makes sense. Very interesting topic, thanks. Eva-Genevieve! Do you find this valuable? |
